ThisstudytakesanormbasedapproachtoanalyzingthedubbingandnonprofessionalsubtitlingofEnglish

swearingintoPersianinanAmericanmovie.Thearticlerevolvesaroundthreemaintheoreticalframeworks, Downloadcitation:
i.e.,Wajnryb(2005),Toury(1995,2012a,2012b),andChesterman(1997).Afteranalyzingthestrategiesin BibTeX | RIS | EndNote | Medlars |
renderingtheoriginalswearingintoPersian,theresearchersachievedamodeloffourbasicstrategies:(a) ProCite | Reference Manager |
direct translation with strong force, (b) direct translation with weak force, (c) deletion, and (d) RefWorks
foreignization.Onthewhole,theresultsofthisresearchshowedthatbothdubbedandnonprofessional Sendcitationto:
subtitledversionsweretargetlanguageorientedwithdeletingtheoriginalswearingasthemostfrequent Mendeley Zotero
strategy.But,thevulgarityandthedegreeofoffensivenessofswearingintheoriginalversionweretosome RefWorks
extent euphemized in the dubbed version. On the other hand, the nonprofessional subtitled version, in

comparisonwiththedubbedversion,employedmoredirecttranslationoftheoriginalswearingwithstrong AmeriS,Ghazizadeh K. A NormBased

force.Thearticlethenproceededtodelveintowhythesestrategieswereemployedbythedubbedandnon Analysis of Swearing Rendition in

professionalsubtitledproducers,andwhytherewereremarkabledifferencesbetweenthetwoversions.The Professional Dubbing and Non

findings provided useful information within descriptive translation studies nevertheless, they cannot be Professional Subtitling from English

generalizedsincethestudywaslimitedbyarelativelysmallcorpusandutilizedanonprobabilitysampling intoPersian.3.20152(2):7896
