2 Respiratory function 2 marks 5marks
Carry oxygen to all part of the body
(1m)
Remove carbon dioxide to the
atmosphere (1m)

Non-respiratory functions
Vocalization: The movement of gas 3 marks
through the larynx, pharynx and
mouth allows humans to speak, or
phonate. Because of this, gas
movement is extremely vital for
communication purposes.
Temperature control: used as a
cooling mechanism.
Coughing and sneezingIrritation of
nerves within the nasal passages or
airways, can induce coughing and
sneezing. Thus, irritants caught in
the mucus which lines the
respiratory tract are expelled

procedure for recording of the electrical
signal produced by heart muscle fibers
during each heartbeat,
(b) b) ECG Normal waveform 3 marks

- QRS complex represent ventricular
depolarization
- T wave represent ventricular
