SITES TO VISIT OR ZIYARAT IN MADINA DURING HAJJ AND

UMRAH

Like Makkah, there are so many historical sites and places to visit in Madina as well. The unique
holy merits of the Prophets city, His Mosque (Masjid-e-Nabwi) and His sacred tomb attract
every pilgrim that comes from all around the world to visit it. There is no condition for Ihram or
talbiyah is necessary or obligatory to visit the Madina or the Prophets Mosque (Masjid-e-
Nabwi).
Madina is located in central Hejaz. The Red Sea is towards the west side and Makkah is about
200 miles towards the south. Some of the popular sacred sites of Madina are discussed below:

Janna-tul-Baqi
Janna-tul-Baqi holds high significance in the history of Islam. It is Located very close to
Masjid-e-Nabawi, this is the site where the battle of Uhad was fought. You can also see the
resting places or sites of Hazrat Hamza, among seventy Sahabas, who attained martyrdom
(shahadat) in the battle of Uhad. As per local residents, the whole number of Sahabas buried in
janna-tul-baqi is more than 10,000.

Masjid-e-Nabwi
It was built by Prophet (PBUH) himself, with the help of other Sahabas, therefore is also
well-known as the Prophets mosque. After Masjid-al-Haram in Makkah, Masjid-e-Nabwi is the
second holiest site in Islam.

Prophet (PBUH) grave

The resting place of our beloved Prophet (PBUH) is right there in the
Masjid-e-Nabwi or Mosque of the Prophet (PBUH) in Madina. The grave lies within the
boundary of the house where Hazrat Aisha (RA) and the Prophet (PBUH) lived.
Home of Sahabees
Madina hosts the homes of numerous Sahabees who hold important repute in the Islamic
tradition and Islamic history. These include homes of:
* Hazrat Usman (R.A), now known as Masjid-e-Usman
* Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A), now known as Masjid-e-Abu Bakr
* Hazrat Umar (R.A), now known as Masjid-e-Umar

Masjid-e-Quba
Quba is the place on the outer edge of Madina where the Prophet (PBUH), accompanied by
Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) arrived and stayed first after emigrating from Makkah. Masjid-e-Quba
was established here by the Prophet (PBUH), the first to be built in Islamic history. Prophet
(PBUH) used to visit this mosque (masjid) every Saturday.

Bir-e-Usman
Bir is an Arabic term meaning well, from where water is taken out.
Hazrat Usman (RA) took the initiative and purchased the half of it from Yahudees, later on the
Yahudees also sold the other half part to him. This well is therefore named on Hazrat Usman
(RA), and is an significant destination for Ziyarat in madina.

Mount Uhud
Mount Uhud is the largest mountain in Madina. It is situated in the north of Madina and it
also consists of a set of mountains that extends from the east to the west with a length of 7
kilometres.
