Anna

I used Herrschners 2-ply Afghan Yarn for this doll, and a size 1
(2.25 mm) steel crochet hook. You will also need a yarn needle,
polyester fiberfill, craft glue, 2 small blue buttons and one small
black button.

The doll is about 7 inches tall. For a larger doll, 4-ply yarn and a
size F aluminum hook can be used.

Yarn colors: Cream, Cool Blue, Cobalt, Black, Ginger, Pomegranate,

and Guava about 50 yards of each (half a skein).
Small amounts of green and yellow.

This doll was made using these stitches:

sc=single crochet
hdc=half-double crochet
dc=double crochet
decrease=1 sc combining 2 stitches

I used continuous rows for almost all of this doll. You can also join
each row and chain 1. This will leave a seam, but makes it much
easier to count rows. Do not turn pieces unless the pattern states
specifically to turn.

Elsa

Materials needed:
Size 1 (2.25 mm) steel crochet hook
Yarn needle or tapestry needle
Polyester fiberfill
Craft glue
Silver embroidery thread and embroidery needle
2 small (1/4-inch) turquoise buttons, for eyes
Optional: six small snaps or velcro dots
Herrschners 2-ply Afghan Yarn: Cream, Cool Blue, Turquoise

hook for a larger doll.

This doll was made using these stitches:

sc=single crochet
hdc=half-double crochet
dc=double crochet
decrease=1 sc combining 2 stitches

I used continuous rounds for much of this doll. You can also join each row and chain 1. This will form a seam. (Most
of the seams can be hidden by hair or clothing). Do not turn pieces unless the pattern says to do so.

On row 3, pull 2 strands of yarn through each of the center 3 stitches on the front of the head.
Pull 2 strands through next stitch and knot (this will be the forehead curl.)
On back of head, apply a layer of craft glue. Flip hair back and press into glue. Arrange so there are no loose or out-

Your Elsa doll is now complete!

Olaf

I used a size 1 (2.25 mm) steel crochet hook and 2-ply yarn
(mostly) for this doll. It is about 5 inches tall. For a larger doll,
use 4-ply yarn and a size F aluminum hook.

Yarns I used:
Caron Simply Soft Light, White (2 ply)
A small amount (about a yard) of 4-ply brown yarn
A small amount of 2-ply Herrschners orange yarn

Other materials needed:

2 3/8-inch (10 mm) googly eyes
3 small (8 mm) black buttons
needle and thread
tapestry needle

Stitches used:
slip stitch
sc=single crochet
hdc=half-double crochet
dc=double crochet
decrease=1 sc combining 2 stitches (bring up loops in 2 sc, pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook)

I use continuous rows for circular parts (head, body, feet). You can also end each row by joining and chaining 1
(without turning). Its easier to keep track of rows this way, but it does create a seam. Do not turn pieces unless the
pattern states specifically to turn.

Head
Row 1: With white yarn, chain 2. 10 sc in second chain from hook.
Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. (20)
Rows 3-4: 1 sc in each sc. (20)

Rows 33-37: 42 sc.
Row 38: (4sc, decrease) 7 times. (35)
Row 39: 35 sc.
Row 40: (3 sc, decrease) 7 times. (28)
Row 41: 28 sc.
Row 42: Decrease 14 times. (14)
Row 43: 14 sc.
Stuff body with polyester fiberfill.
Row 44: 7 decrease. (7)
Row 45: 7 sc. End, leaving a few inches. Thread yarn through each sc and pull
tight. End.

Foot (make 2)
Row 1: Chain 2. 10 sc in second chain from hook.
Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. (20)
Rows 3-5: 20 sc.
Row 6: Decrease 10 times. (10) End, leaving length for sewing.
Stuff feet and sew each to body, starting on row 38, four stitches to one side of center front. Top of foot should be
on row 36 and bottom on row 40 (can be adjusted so the doll sits upright.)

Arms
Row 1: With 4-ply brown yarn, *tightly*
chain 36. Turn.
Row 2: Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook
and each chain across. End.
Hand: in 4th chain from end of arm chain,
attach yarn and chain 4. End. Trim ends
close to knots.
Pull arm chain (the end without a hand)
through body on row 23 (3rd row of
upper body).
Hand #2: On other end of arm chain
(without hand) attach brown yarn in 5th
chain from end. Chain 4. End. Trim yarn
end close to knot. (if desired, tie a small
piece of yarn to the end without a frayed end, so it matches the other ends)
Nose
Row 1: With orange yarn, chain 8. Sc in second chain from
hook and each chain across. (7) Chain 1, turn.
Row 2: Skip first sc. 4 sc. Skip next sc, sc in last. (5) Chain 1,
turn.
Row 3: Skip first sc. 2 sc. Skip next sc, sc in last. (3) Chain 1,
turn.
Row 4: Skip first sc. 2 sc. Chain 1, turn.
Row 5: 1 sc. Do not turn.
Along side of piece work 5 sc, 3 sc in corner stitch, 5 sc, 3 sc in next corner stitch, 5 sc. Slip stitch in next stitch. End,
leaving length for sewing. Sew two sides of the triangle together so you have a cone shape. Stuff lightly.
Sew to center front of head on rows 6-9.

Eyes
Glue two 3/8-inch googly eyes to face just above nose.

Overbite: Thread tapestry needle with 12 inches of white yarn. Using a double
thickness, push needle through back of head to the front on row 11, below nose, 4
stitches from center front. Make sure at least 2 inches of yarn remain at the back of
the head! Cover the front eight stitches with the thread on the needle and push the
needle through to the back of the head, in the same stitch where the yarn enters.
Pull both ends of the yarn tight so that it makes a dent in the front of the face. Knot
and trim. Pull ends of yarn inside head (knot can be hidden inside the head as well!)

Mouth
Chain 12. Sc in second chain from hook. In chain,
work 1 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, slip stitch. End,
leaving enough thread to sew mouth to face and
make eyebrows (about 12 inches). Sew to rows 11-12
of head, covering thread used to make overbite. Do
not end black yarn.

Eyebrows
Continuing with yarn used for sewing on mouth: push needle through center of
head to above eyes and make a line covering 3 stitches above each eye, on row 3
of head. Push needle back to mouth and end, weaving in.

Teeth
Chain 6. Sc in second chain from hook and next 4 chains.
End. Sew to center front of row 10, (just above the overbite thread) so the
teeth overlap the mouth. Weave in ends.
Hair
Cut two three-inch strands of 4-ply brown yarn. Double one strand and pull loop through top of head (Row 1). Pull
ends through loop and pull tight, making knot. Repeat with second strand. Trim to desired length.

Buttons
Sew one small black button to center front of upper body and two buttons to lower body.

The doll is now complete!

Kristoff

I used Herrschners 2-ply Afghan Yarn for this doll, and a size 1
(2.25 mm) steel crochet hook. You will also need a yarn needle,
polyester fiberfill, craft glue, and 2 small (1/4 inch) brown buttons.

The doll is about 8 inches tall.

For a larger doll, use 4-ply yarn and an aluminum size F hook.

Yarn colors: Cream, Forest Green, Black, Gray, Beige

a small amount of Victorian Red

over) 4 times, pull yarn through all 5 loops on hook and chain 1.

I generally use continuous rows for circular parts (head, torso, arms, legs). You can also end each row by joining and
chaining 1 (its easier to keep track of rows this way, but it does create a seam). Do not turn pieces unless the
pattern states specifically to turn.

Sven

Materials needed: Size 1 steel crochet hook (2.25 mm)

Two 3/8-inch googly eyes
craft glue
yarn needle
pins
a 4-inch square of cardboard
plastic wrap
scissors
polyester fiberfill

I used Herrschners 2-ply afghan yarn for this toy. Colors: Dark Beige,
Chocolate, Black, Cream, and a small amount of Victorian Red.

Sven stands 6 inches tall (8 inches counting antlers).

You can use 4-ply yarn with a size F aluminum hook for a larger toy.

Stitches used:
Chain
slip stitch
single crochet (sc)
decrease (dec) = combine two stitches

I use continuous rounds on all round shapes (head, legs, body, etc.) You can also join each round and chain 1 to start
the next round. This will leave a seam, but makes it much easier to keep track of rows. Do not turn pieces unless
the pattern says specifically to turn.

Antlers
Base: With cream-color yarn, chain 46. End.
Right side:
1. Chain 3. Attach yarn with slip stitch in 5th chain from end of base row.
3 sc. Chain 4. End.
2. Attach yarn in last sc below the chain 4. 10 sc. Chain 6. End.
3. Chain 5. Attach in 15th chain on opposite side of base chain. 5 sc, 1 slip
stitch. End.
Left side:
1. Chain 3. Attach in 5th chain of other end of base row. 4 sc. Chain 4. End.
2. Attach yarn in last sc below the chain 4. 6 sc. Chain 6. End.
3. Attach yarn in last sc below the chain 6. 2 sc. Bring up loops in next 2 chains, pull yarn through all three
loops on hook. Chain 5. End.
4. Chain 4. Attach in 10th chain on opposite side of base row. 3 slip stitches. End.

There should be about 20 worked stitches on each side of the antlers and 6 unworked chains in the middle. Dont
worry if the count isnt exact! Note: This will look like a tangled mess of knots and ends until it is blocked.
Blocking the antlers
Wrap a small square of cardboard (about 4 x 4 inches) with plastic wrap.
Mix a teaspoon of water with 2 teaspoons of white glue. Soak antlers in
mixture until wet through. Squeeze out excess liquid by hand (leave it
fairly wet.) Pin the antlers to the wrapped cardboard in the desired
shape, making sure each prong is pinned separately at both ends. Let dry
for several hours.

When dry: unpin, peel off from plastic, and trim off yarn ends with
scissors very close to the knots (the glue will keep them from unraveling).
The piece will now look remarkably like antlers!

Note: my pictures may not exactly match I made several sets of antlers and used the ones I liked best.

Muzzle
Row 1: With chocolate yarn, chain 2. 10 sc in second chain
from hook.
Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. (20)

through the harness to make a pattern. End.

Fit longer end of harness around body and sew together at the corner. Fit shorter end of harness across front of
body, under the beard, and sew end to harness on the other side. Weave in any loose ends.

Your reindeer is done!

Herrschners 2-ply Afghan Yarn. Colors: Cream, Root

Beer, Light Steel, White, Black, Midnight, and
Pomegranate
4 gold beads
9 blue seed beads
Light blue thread

Hans is about 7.5 inches tall when made with these

materials. He can also be made using 4-ply yarns and an
aluminum F hook for a larger doll.

This doll was made using these stitches:

sc=single crochet
hdc=half-double crochet
dc=double crochet
decrease=1 sc combining 2 stitches

I used continuous rounds for much of this doll. You can also join each row and chain 1. This will form a seam. (If you
do this, most of the seams will be hidden by hair or clothing). Do not turn pieces unless the pattern says to do so.

Bulda the Troll

Materials used: Herrschners 2-ply Afghan Yarn

Yarn Colors: Medium Gray, Leaf Green, Forest Green,
Buttercup
Tiny piece of dark gray (about 3 inches)
size 1 (2.25 mm) steel crochet hook for doll
size 10 (1.15 mm) hook for jewelry
yarn or tapestry needle
polyester fiberfill
2 3/8-inch (10 mm) googly eyes
8 red seed beads
5 red 3-mm glass beads
bead needle
Gold thread (I used DMC Metallic Gold no. 282)

The doll is about 5 inches tall. For a larger doll, 4-ply yarn
and a size F aluminum hook can be used.

Stitches used:
sc=single crochet
hdc=half-double crochet
dc=double crochet
decrease=1 sc combining 2 stitches (bring up loops in 2 stitches, pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook)
cluster=(yarn over and pull up loop through stitch, pull through 2 loops on hook) 3 times. Pull yarn through all 4
loops on hook.
small cluster=(yarn over and pull up loop through stitch, pull through 2 loops on hook) 2 times. Pull yarn through all
3 loops on hook.

I used continuous rounds on the head, torso, arms and legs, except where noted. You can also join each row and
chain one. This will leave a seam, but makes it much easier to count rows. Do not turn pieces unless the pattern
states specifically to turn.
