hunting for
Easter eggs
Easter is one of the most sacred
holidays among Christians with Good
Friday and Easter Sunday attracting
the faithful to services at churches and
outdoor venues.
Some of the most widely held
traditions of Easter, however, arent
specifically religious in nature.
The most prominent secular
symbol of the Christian holiday,
the Easter bunny reportedly was
introduced to America by the
German immigrants who brought
over their stories of an egg-laying
hare, according to History.com. The
decoration of eggs is believed to date
back to at least the 13th century.
Easter egg hunts are a popular
spring tradition for children and
families.
While April 16 is the official day
for the celebration of Easter this year,
local Easter egg hunts span two
weeks from April 1 to 16. They range
from small events in parks and church
grounds to mega-events on large
tracts of land in rural parts of the state.
