As a teen raised in a powerful Jewish atmosphere, I have been conflicted with the idea of

serving in the Israeli army by my family. I am constantly reminded about my lack of knowledge

about fear and death and how I cannot make a decision this big on my own though my pride in

the state of Israel knows no bounds. The conflicting ideas of parental fear and teenage pride

make it difficult to choose one side or another. Both sides have valid and thoughtful points. In

the Fourth Mother, I employed the use of ironic diction, hyperbole and figurative language to

create my cultural perspective as a proud Jew who is conflicted about serving Isreal.
