ABSTRAK
Latar belakang: Sejumlah 54% pengguna gigi tiruan yang berusia 65 tahun ke atas memiliki
tingkat kesadaran kebersihan gigi dan mulut yang rendah. Keadaan ini dapat mengakibatkan
peningkatan akumulasi plak pada komponen gigi tiruan lepasan pada daerah basis gigi tiruan
dan elemen gigi tiruan. Hal ini dapat mengakibatkan komplikasi dalam rongga mulut hingga
komplikasi sistemik yang dapat menyebabkan kematian seperti penyakit jantung koroner.
Upaya dalam mencegah terjadinya komplikasi lokal maupun sistemik dapat dilakukan dengan
meningkatkan kebersihan rongga mulut. Dibutuhkan suatu inovasi baru dalam mempermudah
pembersihan gigi tiruan lepasan. Tujuan: Mengkaji inovasi Removable Denture Wash
Machine (Re-Shine) sebagai alat sterilisasi gigi tiruan lepasan modern. Diskusi: RE-SHINE
merupakan alat sterilisasi yang berbentuk balok dengan ukuran 60 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm yang
memiliki prinsip kerja Car Wash Machine. Re-Shine memiliki 3 tahap kerja meliputi
sterilisasi, pembersihan, pengeringan. Tahap partama diawali dengan memasukkan gigi
tiruan lepasan pada Re-Shine dan dilanjutkan dengan proses sterilisasi. Proses ini meliputi
penyemprotan air yang dikombinasikan dengan tablet pembersih gigi tiruan effervescent.
Tablet pembersih ini mengandung deterjen, zat effervescent, oxidizing agent, mouthwash, dan
dyes. Tahap kedua dengan pembersihan gigi tiruan menggunakan sikat berbulu halus. Setelah
itu dilakukan pembilasan menggunakan air bersih. Tahap ketiga yaitu pengeringan gigi tituan
lepasan dengan mengadaptasi metode kerja hairdryer. Re-Shine hanya membutuhkan waktu
5 menit untuk dapat mensterilkan gigi tiruan sebelum siap digunakan kembali. Kesimpulan :
Denture Wash Machine (Re-Shine) merupakan inovasi alat sterilisasi gigi tiruan lepasan
modern yang membantu dalam peningkatan kebersihan gigi dan mulut.

Abstract

Background: Some 54% of the denture users aged 65 years and above have a level of
awareness of oral hygiene. This circumstance could result in an increase in the accumulation
of plaque on the components loose dentures in denture base areas and elements of the
dentures. This can lead to complications in the oral cavity until the systemic complications
that can lead to death, such as coronary heart disease. Efforts in preventing the occurrence of
local and systemic complications can be done by improving the hygiene of the oral cavity. It
needs a new innovation in facilitating cleaning of the denture loose. Purpose: examine the
innovations of Removable Denture Wash Machine (Re-Shine) as a means of sterilization
modern loose dentures. Discussion: RE-SHINE is a sterilization tool shaped beam with a size
of 60 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm with the working principle of the Car Wash Machine. Re-Shine
has 3 stages of work include sterilization, cleaning, drying. Stage partama begins with putting
loose dentures on Re-Shine and continued with the sterilization process. This process
involves spraying the water combined with the effervescent denture cleanser tablets. This
Purifier tablets contain detergent, astringent effervescent, oxidizing agent, mouthwash, and
dyes. The second stage of the clean-up denture using a fluffy brush. After it's done flushing
using clean water. The third stage, i.e. drying gear tituan loose with adapting working
methods hairdryer. Re-Shine it only takes 5 minutes to be able to sterilize denture before it is
ready for use again. Conclusion: Denture Wash Machine (Re-Shine) is an innovation tool
loose dentures modern sterilization who helped in the improvement of oral hygiene.
