I DONT WANT YOU TO GO

Here I am It's crazy coz it's breakin' our heart

Alone and I don't understand Things can fall apart but I know,
Exactly how it all began That I don't want you to go
The dream just walked away
[Bridge]
I'm holding on Oh it's just too much
When all but the passion's gone Takin' all the whole world all by myself
But it's not enough
And from the start Unless I stop trusting somebody else,
Maybe I was tryin' too hard Somebody else
It's crazy coz it's breakin' my heart And love again
Things can fall apart but I know,
That I don't want you to go [Instrumental Interlude]

And heroes die, And from the start

When they ignore the cause inside Maybe we were tryin' too hard
But they learn from what's left behind It's crazy coz it's breakin' our hearts
And fight for something else Things can fall apart but I know,
That I don't want you to go, no
And so it goes Maybe we were tryin' to hard
That we have both learned how to It's crazy coz it's breakin' our hearts
grow Things can fall apart but I know,
That I don't want you to go
And from the start Oh no, don't want you to go
Maybe we were tryin' too hard

I Watch you Go
I see your eyes, And someday soon I think
one final glance as you look back at I will find a haven
me, Where I can cry the tears
and we both know it is time. And let the salt water cleanse the
Although I swore wounds
I would never have to let you go So they can begin to heal
It's a promise I cannot keep. But now is not the time.

I need to live One hand raised

and you need to grow. I salute you
With a wave of good-bye
My heart folds back onto itself Wishing you all the blessings of this
And I just bend my knees and lower earth
my center And when we meet again
To withstand the buffet of the winds it won't be the same
That will blow by me, But we will always know
and through me
Without you standing there to shelter How much we loved
me. and trusted
and shared
The tether is cut, Victories, losses, adventures
and you are free to fly and just the passage of time.
and I lose an anchor,
and my cheeks burn, Look back no more
from the icy wind Eyes to the future
and the few tears that sneak past the And I will just stand here
wall and watch you go.
That I am leaning on
so that I can stand
and watch you go.

b. Motivation
A letter will be presented or read in front of the class. The students will be
asked to notice the verbs and the verbs form used in the paragraph.
c. Presentation

GERUNDS
1. as the subject of a sentence (S = Ger)

This position commonly calls for a gerund. While an infinitive is also possible, it is very
formal and not common.
Shopping is my favourite hobby.
Working out has really improved my health.
2. following a preposition (Prep + Ger)

Here is another common gerund position. This rule applies to all prepositions, including
ones that are part of phrasal verbs.
She thought about calling him, but decided she wouldnt.
They are planning on going to the party tonight.
3. as the object of a verb (V + Ger)

This is the one position where both gerunds and infinitives are commonly used. The
choice of which to use all depends on the verb. Some common ones are: advise, avoid,
enjoy, finish, practise, quit, and suggest.
He enjoyed learning about gerunds.
My teacher suggested studying for the upcoming quiz.
*Dont forget that some verbs take either a gerund or an infinitive with no change in
meaning. While students dont have to worry about these verbs, they should still be
pointed out. Some common verbs are: like, love, and hate.
I love eating pasta.
I love to eat pasta.
INFINITIVES
1. following an adjective (Adj + Inf)

Though it is possible in some cases to use a gerund after an adjective, it is more

common to use an infinitive, making it the better choice for students.
It is nice to meet you.
She mentioned that it was dangerous to stand near that machine.
2. following a noun or pronoun (N + Inf)

If the verb has an object that is a noun or a pronoun, it is almost always followed by an
infinitive. This makes it easy for students to choose the correct form.
You asked me to call you.
The doctor advised Mark to eat more vegetables. (Note that the verb advise
normally takes a gerund, as in The doctor advised eating more vegetables. But
because there is a noun object in this sentence, we must use the infinitive. The noun
rule supersedes the verb rule, which is great news for students.)
3. as the object of a verb (V + Inf)

This is the one position where both gerunds and infinitives are commonly used. It all
depends on the verb. Some common ones are: ask, choose, decide, get, need,
plan, promise, and want.
They want to get their tests back as soon as possible.
The students are planning to have a party this Friday.

IV. EVALUATION
Complete the paragraph below by putting the correct form of the verb inside
each box.

Yuri was in his first year at university, studying History. He was rather a lazy
student, and he tended to avoid (work) whenever he could. In the

middle of the semester, his history professor gave out an assignment, due in
two weeks. Yuri intended(do) the assignment, but he

postponed (write) it for a week. The following week, he

forgot (do) it. The night before the assignment was due, he suddenly

remembered it, and rushed to the library. He tried (read) as much as

possible on the topic, but there wasn't enough time. Yuri

considered (ask) for more time to do his paper, but the History

professor was known to be very tough on students, so finally he

decided (cheat) and copy his paper from somewhere else. He found

an old article on the same topic, and quickly typed it out. The next day, he
submitted the paper.
