Lab 3-5: Creating Schedules

Activity Objective
In this lab, Schedules define what type of video recording is used at different times of the day.

Task 1: Obtaining access to the console VSOM.

Activity Procedure

Complete these steps:

Step 1 Open Internet Explorer and connect to the VSOM at https://192.168.1.X/VSOM.

Step 2 If you see a security warning, accept the warning and continue to the login page.

Step 3 Click System Settings > Shared Resources > Schedules.

Step 4 Click the Add button.

Step 5 Enter the Schedule Name as VSM LAB Entrance Cameras.

Step 6 Choose HQ as the Associated Location and provide a brief description.

Step 7 Click Create.

Step 8 Click Recurring Weekly Patterns tab and rename the label boxes as shown in Figure 1 below.

Step 9 Click the Brush icon to the left of All day to select this time slot.

Step 10 Click somewhere on the timeline for Monday to begin drawing and cover all hours with the All day color
label.

a. A time segment can be expanded or shortened by positioning the mouse on the edge of two time slot
colors and dragging the selection to the left or right

Step 11 Repeat Step 10 for the remaining days of the week. The completed schedule should look like Figure 2
below

Step 12 Click Save.

Step 13 Create another schedule for all non-entrance cameras in buildings in both Mn1 and Mn2 Regions.

Step 14 Click System Settings > Shared Resources > Schedules.

Step 16 Click the Add button.

Step 17 Enter the Schedule Name as VSM Lab NON Entrance Cameras

Step 18 Choose HQ as the Associated Location and provide a brief description.

Step 19 Click Create.
Step 20 Click Recurring Weekly Patterns tab and assign a lunch hour to the recurring schedule.

Step 21 Click in the box under Weekdays and name it Lunch.

Step 22 Click on the brush icon to the left of Lunch to select this Time Slot.

Step 23 On the first row (Monday), click the noon hour (12:00 13:00) to draw a Lunch slot.

a. Do not worry if the slot drawn is not exactly on 12:00 13:00. Adjustments can be made after
drawing a time by placing the mouse cursor at the left or right edge of a slot and moving the line in
15-minute increments.
Step 24 Repeat drawing a Lunch slot for each of the remaining weekdays. The schedule should now match Figure 3
below

Step 25 Click Save.

Step 26 Verify that the schedule is as expected by clicking on the Preview in Calendar icon [ ].

Step 27 We will now create a holiday in the VSM Lab NON Entrance Cameras. Click the Special Dates tab.

Step 28 Click in the box under Night and Weekends and name it New Years Day.

Step 29 Click the Add button.

Step 30 Name the new special date New Years Day.

Step 31 Enter both the Start and End Dates as January 1, 2017. (01/01/2017)

Step 32 Click the brush icon next to New Years Day to select this time slot.
Step 33 Fill in the entire day. (00:00 23:59).

Step 34 Click Save and use the calendar preview icon to verify the new holiday.
