Initiate Factory Calibration from the DeltaV Explorer by selecting the device, clicking
the right mouse button and selecting the Factory Calibration option from the pop-up
menu which appears.

Note: The latest factory calibration recall is not available

on some pressure transmitters. The hardware does not
support this method.

Calibration Concepts
In addition to the Factory Calibration option, two additional types of calibration are
available using the AMS methods: Sensor and Zero Trim.

Sensor Trim
The Sensor Trim method allows you to complete a full calibration. You must supply a
low value input representing the zero input pressure and a high value input representing
the high pressure input.
Note: If full calibration is required, the calibration equipment is recommended to be at
least four times more accurate than the device being calibrated.

3051S Zero trim Calibration
Note: Zero Trim is performed whenever the transmitter is moved from one location to
another.
Important: Do not perform Zero Trim to correct for mounting position effects on
absolute pressure transmitters. This method accounts for static conditions (no test
pressure is applied) so the zero will be shifted to zero psig. Instead, perform the lower
sensor trim method.
Step 1. Right click on the PT1 Transducer Block 1100, select Calibrate, then select
Zero Trim.

Advanced Diagnostic Block
Model 3051S transmitter or measurement errors are detected and annunciated in an
alarm or warning. Advanced Diagnostics provide a status on the quality of the process
and the measurement.
y Plugged Impulse Line Detection Detects clogging, freezing and plugging
between the pressure sensor diaphragm and the process.
y Plugged Impulse Line Detection is designed to be used in a continuous liquid
flow application that is controlled by a set point.
y Statistical Process Monitoring Located inside the 3051S, it continuously
monitors process variables in monitoring or control loops. It can monitor up to
four process variables.

The 3051S can detect a plugged impulse line of a gage pressure or absolute pressure
transmitter. For differential transmitters it can detect either single impulse line or both
impulse lines plugged.

Advanced Diagnostic Block
The Impulse Line tab has the following options
y Plugged Line Enables/Disables plugged impulse line algorithm. Default state
is disabled.
y Affect PV Status Determines whether the quality of the PV measurement will
be affected or unaffected. Default is False. If set to true the quality of pressure
measurement from the Sensor Transducer block will go UNCERTAIN.
y Sensitivity Affects sensitivity of detection level. Low requires a greater
change in process dynamics to trigger detection. Choices are High, Medium and
Low.
y User Command Resets algorithm and reinitiates learning. Choices are Run
and Relearn. Run begins the learning phase. Relearn is used after a plugged line
has been repaired or changes to the sensitivity, etc. have been done. The process
dynamics must be relearned.

function is inside the Fieldbus transmitter.
The 3051S transmitter can monitor up to four process variables. It monitors Mean &
Standard Deviation changes for:
y Measurement PVs
y Control Output
y Valve Position
y Any linkable parameter on the FOUNDATION fieldbus network
This tab is for the advanced user. Consult the vendors documentation for further
information.
Descriptions of block parameters are provided by the device manufacturer as popup help

Modify PIC-101
Step 1. Add an AI function block to control module PIC-101. The pressure transmitter
will monitor pressure in the tank.
Step 2. Assign to Fieldbus device PT1
Step 3. Set Channel to 1.
Step 4. Set L_Type to direct
Step 5. Set XD_SCALE 0-10 PSI.
Optional: Add a High alarm, that will trip if the pressure is greater than 8 psi.

Download & Verify
Step 1. Download PIC-101 and the appropriate function blocks.
Step 2. Place the PIC-101/AI1/OUT parameter on the Fieldbus picture.
Step 3. Open the control valve 90% open.
Step 4. Adjust the hand valve until pressure indicates approximately 8.5psi.
Step 5. Verify the PIC-101/AI1/OUT parameter drops to zero pressure.
Step 6. Turn the hand valve to full close.
Step 7. Verify the PIC-101/AI1/OUT parameter displays maximum pressure.

Clicking the white IMAN button once changes the AO
function block mode to Auto. Clicking again changes
the mode back to Cascade.
This is the Data Entry window for AO function block
local set point when AO function block in Auto mode.
The Operator entry area is used to adjust the valves
position when PID detects bad status.
The button and data entry field on the Faceplate are
useful when the PID function block has detected a bad
status. The operator can change mode of the AO
function block in the valve and enter a value between 0
and 100% to adjust valve position.

Operator Display & Verify
Step 1. Add the FFPID_Block dynamo from the frsFncBlks dynamo set to the
Fieldbus picture.
Step 2. Change the loop mode to Auto and tune the loop. You may manually tune the
loop from the detail display or using Control Studio, select PID function
block, right mouse click, select Tune. This will launch the Auto Tune
application.
Step 3. Verify Backup LAS. Remove the H1 card from the carrier to simulate a failed
H1 card. Adjust the hand operated demand valve and visually verify the valve
travels in response to the demand.
Note: DeltaV 7.3 allows Auto Tune application to be performed on PID when assigned
to a fieldbus device.
Optional: If the PID function block is assigned to the 3051S pressure transmitter,
configure the LCD meter to display the SP and PV of the PID function block.

Fault States
FSTATE_Time The time in seconds from detection of a fault to the output action of
the AO Block. Units: Seconds
FSTATE_VAL The preset analog SP value to use when fault occurs. Ignored if the I/O
option Fault State to value is false(not checked). Units: EU of PV.

Fault States
If a Fieldbus valve loses air, or a Fieldbus valve positioner loses power, the valve will
either go fully open or fully closed. This state is determined by the valve itself and is
often termed its shelf position or air fail position. This is different from the Fault State
parameter (FSTATE_VAL) of the Analog Output function block when assigned to a
Fieldbus valve.
By default the Analog Output function blocks FAULT STATE TO VALVE and
FSTATE_TIME are set to 0. This causes the block to hold the last value when
communication on the Fieldbus is lost.
Note: The two parameters listed above only appear in the parameter list after the block
has been assigned to a Fieldbus device.
