GROUP LEARNING EXPERIENCE PLANNING SHEET

Learning Experience: Rhyming jars

Programming Purpose:
To teach students how to rhyme basic words by matching popsicle sticks to the jar

Objective:
Children will increase their language skill as they learn to rhyme simple words

Materials: Modifications:
(4) Jars
(1) Pack of popsicle sticks
(1) Black marker

Opening (Introduction)

I will set this up at center time and have all the jars and popsicle sticks set up. I
will encourage the children to come here after being dismissed from the carpet.

Body (Content)
1. Once at my center we will being to play the game we will mix up the
popsicle sticks into a pile
2. Then sort them into the jars that have the corresponding rhyming
sounds
3. I will assist children in this once complete we will play again
Closing (Ending)

I will ask the students to help tidy and then go back and play

What worked during this learning experience? Why?


What worked best was how simple the words were to rhyme and werent more than 3 letters
long for the kids. This made easy for them to find and sort the popsicle sticks onto the jars.

What did not work during this learning experience? Why?


The mains things that did not work was their were only 5 popsicles sticks per Jar and more
could have been used to make it more challenging.

What might you do differently in the future?


In the future I will add more rhyming word that focus on a theme and have longer words then
3 letters. This would help to gain a childs interest.
