Thank you for your interest in the 2017 Gamma Epsilon Philadelphia City Chapter of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Leona K. Baylor Scholarship. Our
scholarship is designed to assist enterprising high school students who plan to pursue
college careers. This year we plan to award a scholarship to two deserving, young, Black
females. Candidates for the scholarship must meet the requirements of academic
excellence, leadership, and community service. We require that each applicant have a
minimum of a 3.0 GPA, at least one letter of recommendation, a copy of your transcript,
and evidence of leadership through extracurricular activities.
There are two scholarship amounts that will be awarded one for $1,000 and one for
$500. Accepted students will be required to attend an awards banquet on May 7, 2017.
Students must submit proof of matriculation into an accredited college or university by
September 30, 2017, or the scholarship is void.
