Safety/Room Constraints:

A room constraint that exists when using the gym is the size. The gym has
been divided into quarters and each group will be assigned a quarter for the
semester.
Safety constraints that exist are the volleyball machine in the corner. Sharp
corners on doors, also need to watch out for children trying to exit the gym
using the doors. Our group must have at least 1 if not 2 instructors watching
Rania and Seth at all times. Goal for today is to have them participate in 4
group activity or more.
Uneven ground can be dangerous, when there are objects or obstacles set
up. Cones and tape can be a tripping hazard, setting cones up in best place
to reduce accidents
Group leaders need to ensure that all students are wearing the proper
footwear. Shoes need to be tied to prevent a tripping hazard.
All group participants should be kept in their designated corners, so they
dont get hurt or hurt another kid (accidentally) by entering different corner
of the gym where they have their own games going on. (Tara will put out
pylons to divide gym)
Scooters involved have to explain to them they need to keep their fingers out
from underneath them and to stay on the scooter while its moving.
May have to implement a system where if rules are not followed, warning is
issued. If warning is not followed student may be asked to sit out for 5
minutes.

Warm-up: (10 min)

This week Group #1 will be running warm up.
We will go over rules and expectations of the group, each time we meet.
What are some rules and expectations that we should use as a group? For
our group a big rule will be respecting everybody in the gym and our
group.
1. Be inclusive
2. Respect your peers and everyone in the gym
3. We are going to countdown how much time each activity has left (helps those
students with FASD adjust to the changing environment)
4. Have FUN!!!
Planned Activities: (40 min)
1. Target Throwing (10 min)
Equipment: Bean bags, 8 pieces of paper with a target drawn on, tape, and noodle
Game Description:

There will be eight targets taped to the wall. Three high, two in the middle
and three low
There will be 15 lines all together, 5 rows of 3 taped to the ground for a
difficulty level of how far students would like to throw.
Each student one at a time will pick where they would like to throw from and
stand behind that line
Students will place the beanbag in their preferred hand, and throw from
behind and over their shoulder.
If students are throwing with their right arm their left foot should step forward
If students are throwing with their left arm their right foot should step forward
Brody will have the option to have their partner assist them in throwing, but
first they will place a noodle under their arm and go to the target of their
choice and touch it with the noodle.
Brody can bump a ball into the lower targets
Once everyone has hit each target once they can partner up with a KNES 240
student and try to see who can hit all of the targets the fastest

2.Free Play (2-4 min)

Equipment: whatever students chose at beginning of class

Reward for students participating in first activity

3. Basket Toss (10 min)

Equipment: beanbags, baskets
Game Description:

Have a students pair up with someone they are comfortable with

Students have the choice to be the thrower or catcher first but each person
must play both roles
The catcher will hold the basket in front on them.
The person who is throwing will stand at a distance that is comfortable for
them between them and the person holding the basket.
Using an underhand throw (taking whatever arm is comfortable starting the
throw from behind the same hip as arm, swinging the arm in an upward
forward motion (like bowling) as the opposite foot steps forward) the
thrower will try to get the bean bag in the basket
Once there are 3 beanbags in the basket the person who has the basket will
set it to the side and try to catch 3 beanbags without a basket
Brody can hold the basket on their lap and then remove it.

4. Moving Basket Toss (5 min)

Equipment: beanbags, baskets
Game Description:

Have students line up against the bleachers (starting point)

There will be a KNES 240 student paired up with each student standing across
from them at a fair distance
The KNES 240 student will then throw a beanbag up in the air
The students will try to run and catch the beanbag that has been thrown in
the air into their basket
Once successful they can try it without the basket
Brody can have someone beside them encouraging them to move for the
beanbag
5. Free play/ Short Break (2-4 min)
Equipment: whatever students had chosen at the beginning of class
Game Description:

Reward for participating in activities

6.Bowling (10min)
Equipment: bowling pins, balls of different sizes

Game Description:

Bowling pins will be set up in a pyramid shape on the floor x2 (or as

many set up as possible)
Students will stand behind the line tapped to the floor
Students will roll a ball and try to knock over as many bowling pins as
possible
Students will be allowed to pick their ball size for difficulty
Brody can be pushed or move himself towards the bowling pins. They
can also use a lacrosse stick to help him knock over bowling pins.

Alternate/Additional Activities:
7.Doctor Dodge ball (10 min)
Equipment: pylons, dodge balls, scooters
Game Description:

Separated into two teams

One person on the team in the doctor
Each team will throw the balls underhand trying to hit another player
If hit the person must sit down and wait for the doctor to come get the with
the scooter, put them on the scooter and pull them back to the wall
If the ball is caught the person who threw it must sit down and wait for the
doctor
Once the doctor is hit they must stay down until everyone is hit
Brody can be the doctor by using a noodle to have the person who was hit
hold onto as they assist him in moving the scooter to the wall
8. Ring Toss (5-10 min)
Equipment: Bowling pins, rings, tape
Game Description:

Students will stand behind the line

Try to toss the rings onto the bowling pins

Additional Activity for Brody

he will take that amount of beanbags to that corner with assistance from a
KNES 240 student
9.Free Play (5min)
