Planning Your Path: What Will You Do This Year?

Setting Goals:

People who set goals achieve more than those who do not, and people who write them down are more
likely to achieve them.

Deciding what you want to do, what classes you need to take in high school and college, and which college
to attend are easier to accomplish if you set goals.

The SMART Principle is a helpful tool for writing down goals. Goals should meet the following criteria:

S-Specific - does it include answers to the 5 W questions?

M-Measurable - can you measure the progress towards the goal?
A-Attainable - do you have the tools to reach this goal (time, skills, etc...)?
R-Realistic - is this goal even possible?
T-Time bound - is there a time limit to achieving this goal?

Write down at least 2 academic, social and personal goals for the year that will help you develop
skills for your education, your future career, and help you become a better person. (Think about
where you want to be in the future.)
