living in North Hempstead.
The first free, in-depth seminar is scheduled for
Tuesday, April 9 at the Hillside Public Library, lo
cated at 155 Lakeville Road in New Hyde Park. It
runs from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.
A second seminar is scheduled for Thursday,
April 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Westbury Public
Library, located at 445 Jefferson Road in Westbury.

vide children the basic skills needed to help fami

Several tasting rooms, each exquisitely decorated
for the occasion by prominent local designers, will
offer a variety of the world's fine wines. These wines
will be expertly paired with the international foods
of such distinguished culinary establishments as

of local events and help in what
ever way they can. Some exam
ples of their generosity and sup
port include donating candy
canes to the Manhasset Annual
Children's Holiday Show, allow
ing Girl Scout Troops to sell
cookies every year, collecting
sign-up responses for Bike Safety
Day and, without being asked,
even donating items from the
store when Girl Scouts collected
items for needy children.

The program is made possible through a part
nership of the Receiver of Taxes and Henry Montag
of Financial Forums, Inc., a provider of educational
workshops and conferences for professional and
consumer organizations.
Topics of discussion will include: Money and
Values within Your Family, Living within Your
Means, Understanding the Importance of Good
Credit, Basic Saving and Investment Strategies,
Student Loan Borrowing Strategies and Pitfalls, as
well as various other money management topics.
This seminar is purely informational. There will
be no cost associated with it, nor will there be any
products pitched or sold. It is stricdy an opportuni
ty for parents and their children to come together
to educate themselves on the crucial topic of fi
nancial literacy.

Adventures in Learning has for over 40 years
been nurturing elementary school students from
the Spinney Hill area of Manhasset/Great Neck.
"Adventures" provides the children a secure after
school environment with loving supervision, nutri
tious snacks, one-on-one homework help, and
such enrichment activities as dance, science,
sports, art, music, and Scouting.
Tickets for the Soiree are available at $150 per per
son or $100 for young adults between the ages of 21

Registered?
The Manhasset SCA has launched a voter regis
tration drive in an effort to register all eligible Man
hasset residents and increase voter participation.
Local statistics show that only 75 percent of
those eligible to vote are registered and, of those
that are registered to vote, very few actually go to
the polls. Historically, 90 percent of registered
Manhasset residents, 40 years and under, do not
vote. The SCA would like to encourage everyone
to have their voice be heard through their vote.

200 Plandome Road, Manhasset.

Call 1-800-FOR-VOTE hotline to request a vot
er application.
Mail your completed form to Nassau County
Board of Elections, 240 Old Country Road (5th FI),
Mineola, NY 11501-480. Your mailed registration
must be received by the Nassau County Board of
Elections no later than May 10 in order to be eligi
ble to vote for the school budget on May 21.
If you prefer, you can register in person between
8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on days when school is in ses
sion at the district clerk's office, located on the
second fioor of the Manhasset Secondary School.
Please bring your ID and at least 3 pieces of proof
of residency such as utility bills, a deed, a current
mortgage statement or a copy of your lease. The
last day to register to vote in person is May 16.
Please note that registering in person will only en
title you to vote in school elections; in order to be
registered to vote in federal, state and county elec
tions, registration must be done by mail.
If you cannot register during business hours on
schools days, there will be an additional opportu
nity to register in person: Saturday, May 11 from
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Register at this time only at the Of
fice of Community Relations (Room 210) at the
Manhasset Secondary School in the main hall of
the high school. Please bring the proof of residen
cy documents listed above.
Exercise your right to vote on Tuesday, May 21
at the Manhasset Secondary School gym between

Library Budget
Hearing
On Wednesday, April 10, at 7 p.m., the Man
hasset Public Library Board of Trustees meet
ing and Annual Budget Hearing will take place
in the library Community Room. All residents
are welcome to attend.
The Manhasset Library Annual Budget Vote
and Trustee Election will be held in the Com
munity Room of the Library on Wednesday,
April 17, from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. All registered
Manhasset voters are encouraged to vote.
