Amigurumi Goose/Swan/Duck Pattern:

My friends and I have varying opinions on whether this bird more resembles a goose, a swan, or
a duck so feel free to use which ever suits your fancy.

Finished size:
Body Length: 9 inches (from tip of tail to tip of beak)
Body Width: 3 inches at the widest point
Height: 7 inches (from top of head to bottom of the belly)

Materials:
Sport-Weight Yarn (white): 1 skein (50 g/approx. 100 yards) (standardized weight: 2; however, I
believe that this would turn out similarly if made with 3 or 4)
Yarn (orange): Short length for the beak (you can use any weight from 2 to 4 for this)
Yarn (black): for the eyes (you can use any weight from 2 to 4 for this)
Crochet hook, size G (4 mm)
Polyester fiberfill
Yarn needle

Ch Chain
Dc Double Crochet
Sc Single Crochet
St Stitch

How to do a Dc Decrease:
Loop yarn around hook, insert hook in next stitch, pull a loop through, then draw yarn through
the first two loops on your hook (there will still be two loops on the hook). Insert hook in next
stitch, pull a loop through, draw yarn through the first two loops on your hook, then draw yarn
through the remaining two loops on your hook.

The body, neck and head of this doll are worked as one continuous piece. The wings are worked
separately and then sewn on.

Body, Neck and Head:

Round 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook. Place marker.

Round 2: (Sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st) around: 8 st

Round 3: (Sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in each of the next 2 st) around: 12 st

Round 4: (Sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in each of the next 3 st) around: 18 st

Round 5: (Sc in next 5 st, 2 sc in each of the next 4 st) around: 26 st

Round 6: Sc in next 5 st, dc in next 7 st, 2 dc in each the of next 2 st, dc in next 7 st, sc in next 5
st: 28 st

Fill the body with fiberfill

Round 28 30: Sc around: 16 st

Round 31: Sc in next 12 st, dc in next 4 st: 16 st

Round 32: Dc in next 4 st, sc in next 8 st, dc in next 4 st: 16 st

Round 33: Dc in next 4 st, sc in next 8 st, dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in next st: 17 st

Round 34: 2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 st, sc in next 8 st, dc in next 5 st: 18 st

Fill the neck with fiberfill

Round 35: Dc in next 5 st, sc in next 8 st, dc in next 4 st, 2 dc in next st: 19 st

Round 36: 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 st, sc in next 8 st, dc in next 6 st: 20 st

Rounds 37 39: Dc in next 6 st, sc in next 8 st, dc in next 6 st: 20 st

Round 40: Dc in next 6 st, sc in next 3 st, decrease once, sc in next 3 st, dc in next 3 st, dc
decrease once, dc in next st: 18 st

Fill head with fiberfill

Round 41: Dc in next st, dc decrease once, dc in next 3 st, sc in next 2 st, decrease once, sc in
next 3 st, dc in next 2 st, dc decrease once, dc in next st: 15 st

Round 42: Dc in next st, dc decrease once, dc in next 2 st, sc in next 6 st, dc decrease twice: 12 st

Round 43: Dc decrease twice, sc in next 6 st, dc decrease once: 9 st

Round 44: Dc decrease once.

Cut white and tie on orange, making sure that the knot and loose threads are on the inside.

Continue Round 44: Sc in next 7 st: 8 st

Rounds 45 47: Sc around. 8 st

Round 48: Sc in next 3 st, decrease once, sc in next 3 st: 7 st

Round 49: Sc in next 3 st, decrease once, sc in next 2 st: 6 st

Slip st in next st, tighten thread, and finish.

Eyes:
Cut a length of black. Tie in place around a stitch on the head (place based on image or however
youd like), and sew around one stitch three times for each eye.

Wings (make 2):

The basic idea of the wings is that each row will be one shorter than the previous row, but the
decrease is only on one side of the wing. Keep this in mind as you read the instructions; it will
help resolve any confusion.

Ch 21

Row 1: Skip ch closest to the hook, then sc 20 times (back to original stitch)

Row 2: Ch 1, then sc 19 times (one shorter than previous row)

Row 3: Ch 1, start sc in second stitch from hook (skip closest st), sc a total of 18 times

Row 4: Ch 1, then sc 17 times

Row 5: Ch 1, start sc in second stitch from hook, sc a total of 16 times

Row 6: Ch 1, then sc 15 times

Row 7: Ch 1, start sc in second stitch from hook, sc a total of 14 times

Row 8: Ch 1, then sc 13 times

Row 9: Ch 1, start sc in second stitch from hook, sc a total of 12 times

Row 10: Ch 1, then sc 11 times

Row 11: Ch 1, start sc in second stitch from hook, sc a total of 10 times

You will now have the following shape:

This is not a perfect picture, but it conveys the basic idea: one end is a rectangle, the other is a
step ladder, the flat part of the step formed by the skipped stitches (the even rows) and the
up part of the step formed by the odd rows.

Row 12: Ch 1, sc 10 times, then sc through each up part and each flat part of each step: 20
sc, then slip st in 21st st, tighten, and finish.

Sew the wings to the body as in the model image, with the curved edge (Row 12) down and the
starting row up. Sew on three edges: starting at about 10 st from the rectangular end on the
bottom edge, then all of the short flat side, then about 7 st of the top edge.
And now youre done!!
