One of the meetings I attended today was to go through regulations for the 6400

homes. Their regulations are different from ICF and they also have fewer regulations.

The regulations are set by the department of welfare to protect the rights of clients with

mental retardation. For one to establish community homes that are for individuals with

mental retardation, they have to meet the criteria for the licensing inspection instrument.

You have to be on task with checking that you meet all the 6400 regulations. In cases of

incidents, the department of welfare needs to see what plan has been implemented to

avoid a recurrence and that it has been documented.

While working for the organization, its important to have a good team working besides

you to ensure the organization runs smoothly. The team has to be dedicated to coming

up with solutions. If theres an incident, and you have to set a meeting to discuss what

plan needs to be implemented, you have to be able to trust that the team will help you

come up with a plan.
