professional experience
june 2015 - present| junior architect at Filofi si Trandafir Arhitectur, Cluj-Napoca, Romania|www.filofisitrandafir.ro
I took part in diverse and complex projects under development such as a hotel in Hunedoara, the conversion of an XX century
building into a restaurant, several single family houses and interior and furniture design. My general tasks included preparing
the necessary legal documentation for CU and DTAC phases, detailed CAD drawings for projects under construction, measure-
ments on site and 3D modelling.

january 2015 - may 2015| intern at nuvolaB architetti associati, Firenze, Italia | www.nuvolab.it
As an intern I was involved in different projects, I participated in a competition for Zurich, Switzerland and other projects
under-development like the furniture design for the public library of la Scuola Normale of Pisa and a competition for an
waterfront in Oristano, Torregrande, Italy. My tasks included detailed CAD drawings, 3D modelling and post-processing in
Photoshop and site measurements.

november 2013 - january 2014 | intern at NEXT Design Studio, Cluj - Napoca, Romania
As an intern, I was involved in several projects, in both schematic and detailed drawings and design. I worked on the concept
development, design and CAD drawings for a single family house and a loft reconversion into an office.

The Neolithical Art Museum & Research Center of Cucuteni Culture
- master thesis project -

location: Cucuteni, Iasi, Romania

program: museum | research center | ceramics academy
type: diploma project | individual project
year: 2014
semester: 12th

The project aims to look towards the past in an

attempt to salvage, by means of an architectural
object, a cultural heritage of both national and inter-
national importance, the Cucuteni Culture, the oldest
culture of Preistorical Europe, of 5000 years old.

6
7
Cucuteni culture - The first European Civilization
The culture of Cucuteni represents the birth of the European civiliza-
tion, the understanding of a people that 5000 years ago was build-
ing human settlements and creating art, having a lifestyle worthy of
our amazement and understanding.
The name comes from the village next to which the remains were
found in 1884. The surface is believed to cover almost 350.000
sqm, covering parts of Romania, Moldavian Republic and Ukraine.
Historians date this particular civilization some hundreds of years
before the civilization of Sumer and the Ancient Egypt, and are
fascinated by the importance of the discoveries. The remains present
the life of an unknown people, to which scientist cannot attribute a
name due to the inexistence of the writing system in that period.
One of the most important aspects of the culture is represented by
the pottery and ceramics. These objects are of a distinct quality and
preservation. The technique was simple and included clay, sand and
sun, resulting in different shades of white, red and black. The dec-
orations are predominantly in shape of spirals, but of an unknown
significance. The statuettes which present the feminine silhouette are
predominant showcasing gracious and supple bodies and underlin-

LOCATION & SITE: Cucuteni Village | IASI county |

Iasi county Cucuteni village - situated in the north western part of Iasi county. Site accesibility - 12 km to Trgu-Frumos | 60 km to Iasi.

The chosen site, the Gosan hill is a place of an historical

importance, situated near the archaeological site Cettuia
- the place where this fascinating culture was discovered.
The Gosan Hill is dominated by the current Cucuteni
Culture Archaeological Museum, a circular building which
covers one of the Geto-Dacian barrow cemeteries dating
from the fifth century; the valley leading down to the
village is marked with wood carvings, the result of a sculp-
ture camp organized here a few years ago.
The museum is conceived as a place of multiple and great
discoveries: of the landscape, of the Cucuteni Culture
and its rich symbolism, and perhaps of a new connection

Perspective of the
foyer

The foyer of the museum is the transitional space between inside and outside, a linear space that filters the outside landscape through the perfo-
rated corten facade, creating a play between natural and artificial light; a fusion of different intensities of light introduces the visitor into a world
of metaphysics and emotions. The linearity of the foyer contrasts with the sloping stone wall, which describes a slightly circular motion, in an at-
tempt to reinterpretate one of the favourite symbols of Cucuteni: the spiral. Also an interpretation of the Geto-Dacian necropolis barrow, this wall
conceals the ramp which leads to the permanent exhibition area and its the unifying element of the whole exhibition route.

In the permanent exhibition hall, the objects mysteri-
ously float in glass cases, so that visitors can wonder
around at their own pace and desire. The atmosphere
of the exhibition hall was designed to boost the mys-
tery surrounding these exhibits. The space is buried as
a methafor of the artefacts, and lit by strategically
placed skylights.

TASK: to work on a STRIP - 50 x 200 m
SITE

Ivry-sur-Seine is a commune in the Val-de-Marne depart-

ment in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France, located
5.3 km from the center of Paris. The site located here is an
empty one, with no meaningful urban landmarks or char-
acteristics, being a part of an urban restructuring area.
Therefore, we were given the task to work only on a strip
of 50 x 200 m, in which we were supposed to develop
our solution.
The project was developed simultaneously at 3 different
scales: the scale of the unit or prototype, followed by
the aggregation scale and lastly the context or urban
landscape.

Multiple configurations

The projects starts from the idea that every housing project, as a physical
structure, must support the social structure, both visually and functionally.
The main function of the exterior public areas is to provide a framework
for living and for the daily activities: walking, pausing and stopping,
multiple levels single levels playing simple games and interacting socially, all those elements that
generate a collective life.
Starting from a module of 6 x 6 m, which would be also the structural
module, which I multiplied afterwards, various configuration of apart-
ments were developed, with surfaces ranging from 36 to 144 square
metres. The aggregations consist in low-rise housing (maximum 3 stories
back to back face to face high), with other functions that sustain social living: playground for chil-
dren, kindergarden, coffeshops.

The project is located in Cluj-Napoca, on a site situated at the

intersection of Observatorului & Lunii street, where the urban
tissue consists mostly of modernist blocks of collective housing.

SITE

CONCEPT

The design for the Puppet theatre started from the topography of the place. The site has a slight gradient, and that instantly made us imagine
a volume emerging from the hill, in an attempt to build an architectural signal. This will become the main volume of the ensemble, sheltering the
main spectacle hall, with all its necessary technical ares. The secondary volume, which contains the experimental hall, the repetitions hall, and
the administration area, responds to the Observatorului street.

Basic sketch for the childrens town

the classrooms the corridor -> the interior street

The creative center is conceived as a Childrens Town where the classrooms are sheltered by irregular volumes in a continuous play of shapes and
formes, of inside and outside, creating a dynamic varioation in strong relation with its users.
The normal corridor which connects all these volumes is expanded and becomes the interior street. Here can happen spontaneous spectacles,
generated by the children themselves, for the other children.

The project supposes the design of an office building
on a site located in the historic center of Cluj - Na-
poca, at the intersection of Avram Iancu and Deszo
Kovacs streets.
One of the generating elements of the project is the
existence on the site of the ancient city wall together
with a bastion.
Thus the recovery of the ancient city wall was
achieved by creating a pedestrian zone along the
wall, surrounded by a basin of water which would
reflect it and therefore emphasize its presence by
doubling it.

The visual connection between the old bastion and the main
access street, Avram Iancu, was obtained by means of a
transparent, public, ground floor that allows the passage from
one side to another. The upper floors house offices of various
companies.
The former bastion was brought to life by creating a direct
connection - the metallic lightweight platform - between it
and the multifunctional hall, on the 1st floor.

TASK

We had to create an artistic installation which had to find its place in the 104 Arts Center, in Paris.
we chose to place it in the central space of the Cultural Center, a platform which acts like an urban scene, where dancers gather to exercise
their dance moves, and so is the place where different types of spectacles happen spontaneously. Therefore the challenge was to translate
all these elements into the installation itself.
The result is a very visual and dynamic installation, having as its main concepts the idea of color combined with the art of movement, the
dance. Therefore, the gradually changing colors, blend and transform from one into another just like the movements of a dance. Like a
ribbon, the installation surrounds the spontaneous dance floor in an attempt to draw attention to the continuous action that was happening
there and perhaps, sometimes, has been going unnoticed.
Like a theatre curtain which lifts itself to permit the show to begin, the openings created in the installation, create an interesting
scenery, modifying the users perception of the spectacle in development.

Concept Sketches

60
LOCATION

The 104 defines itself rather broadly as an Artistic Establish-

ment. Under that title, it puts on a dynamic range of cultural
events including art installations, art fairs, events, concerts
and theatre performances.
Around the edges of one of the two great halls are artists
and musicians studios, and within each of the halls there is
usually a variety of installations and exhibits and you will
often see dancers or actors rehearsing here.

site.

activities and to permit visibility and observation.

TASK

The challenge was to accommodate three different typologies of

users (students, family and young professionals) on a given site.
First floor plan
The site is located in Cluj-Napoca, near the city centre, but in an
urban area which needs urgent urban restructuring.
Nevertheless, the site is of great importance for the future develop-
ment of the entire area; having a direct relationship with the Somes
river, the site represents a transitory space between the natural
environment and the city.
Our solution focuses on maximising efficiently the given ground space
in order to provide the maximum amount of apartments for a selec-
tion of demographics (families, students and young professionals).
Due to urban regulations, we had to respond to Somesului street and
Lalelelor street with a continuous front, creating an urban accent at
the 2 volumes intersection.
The final shape of the volume offered the possibility of creating two
courtyards, with different characters: a public one in direct relation
with the new proposed pedestrian promenade on the Somes river-
bank, and a more private one, in direct relationship with the inhabi-
tants. The volume on the Lalelor street contains student housing while
the other 2 volumes accommodate different typologies of family
apartments, ranging from single room to triple room apartments and Third floor plan
duplexes. The luxury

racter public character, while the other one is with the Somes river intersection of the site

ter, for the inhabitants
