IPE Organized Two Days International Conference on Big Data Analytics, Operations Research, and
Internet of Things (ICBDA17) during 30-31 March, 2017 at IPE, Shamirpet Campus.
In response to the announcement, responses were received from International (Australia, USA, and Saudi
Arabia) and National communities both from Academia and Industry.
The conference schedule was broadly divided into 3 tracks. In the first track research papers were
presented. In the second track Round Table Discussion with the stalwarts of the Industry and Academics
was scheduled. In the third track workshops (I, II and III) were arranged on contemporary topics relating
to the conference theme in association with TCS and CA Technologies.

Inaugural Session
The conference began with the inaugural session chaired by Shri.George Philip, Vice President,
Capegemini and Prof.M.L.Sai Kumar delivered the inaugural address. Prof.R.K.Mishra, Director, IPE
presented the Opening Remarks, Dr.S.S.Murthy, Dean, IPE presented About IPE for the benefit of the
audience, and Prof.S.Satish Kumar, Training Coordinator, IPE presented the Opening Key note Address.

TRACK I
Research papers were presented in 2 technical sessions. The first session Big Data Analytics:
Developments, Challenges and Opportunities was chaired by Prof.Dr.K.S.Vijaya Sekhar, Professor, IIIT
Hyderabad and the second session Building Data Driven Culture using Analytics and IoT for Consistent
Data Management & Improved Decision Making was chaired by Dr.Vaddiparti Raghava Swamy, Deputy
Director (Remote Sensing and Training), NRSA/ ISRO, Hyderabad. Themes presented in the sessions
included: Econometric model of Productivity Estimation in High mix low volume shop using Genetic
Algorithm, A Study on Future and Scope of Big Data in Indian Agriculture Sector, Forecasting GDP using
ARIMA and Artificial Neural Networks Models under Indian Environment, Semantic Business Process
Management for e-Governance, Good-bye Privacy, Welcome Analytics, A Novel Video Watermarking
Scheme by Using IoT and QR Codes, Trends of Indian Venture Capital & Private Equity Firms - A Study,
Democratizing Innovation : IoTs and Deep Learning in E-Governance, Big Data Analytics in Support of
the Decision Making Process, Application of Text Analytics on the Customer Reviews to Identify their
Sentiments about the Products listed on e-Commerce Sites, Role of Big Data in Understanding the
Consumer Behaviour in the Retail Sector, and Big Data All We Need to Know About, Business
Intelligence: Establishing an Intelligent Administration.

TRACK II
Industry stalwarts and Experts from academics participated in the Round Table Discussions on Big Data,
Business Analytics and Internet of Things: Technologies & Challenges - Global and Indian Perspective".
Participants included Shri.Ramesh Bhashyam, CTO, Teradata; Dr.A.Desik, Product Specialist, TCS; Shri.
George Philip, VP, Capgemini; Shri.Surya Putchala, CEO, Zettamine; Shri.Chaitanya Sagar, CEO,
Perceptive Analytics; Prof. Dr.K.S.Vijaya Sekhar, Professor, IIIT-Hyderabad; and Dr.Vaddiparti Raghava
Swamy, Deputy Director (Remote Sensing and Training), NRSA/ ISRO, Hyderabad. Participants have
complimented the efforts of Dr.Desik as Moderator for the session and they were highly appreciative of
the panelists efforts for throwing more insights into the knitty gritty of technology, its relevance,
National and Global Perspective, employment opportunities, skill set required for Management trainees,
Challenges and opportunities etc. Participants felt that the discussions made the theme so easily
understood which though is quite complicated. It has emulated lots of thinking amongst the participants
and their perspective of Analytics being complicated is prevaricated.

TRACK III
55 delegates participated in the Technical workshops (I, II and III) conducted on 31 March, 2017. The
workshop themes included: Introduction to Data Analytics, R Basics and Usecase, Usecase Hands-on and
Best Practices and Creating Visual Analytics using Tableau Desktop. These workshops were organized by
IPE in collaboration with TCS and CA Technologies. Shri.Prashanth Soma from TCS and
Shri.Manickavel Ramesh from CA Technologies conducted the workshops on behalf of their respective
organizations. Participants have rated the sessions as highly interesting, effective, and technically
superior, while they rated the experts as competent, passionate, interactive, skillful and above all
approachable. Post the session, Mr.Prashanth Som and Mr.Ramesh are inspiration to the participants who
aspire to make a career in this technology. They have rated the sessions awesome and have requested for
few more similar sessions in near future too.

Valedictory Session
Shri.N.Srikanth, Sr.Program Manager from Tech Mahindra delivered the valedictory address, while
Prof.R.K.Mishra, Director, IPE presented the closing remarks. Dr.S.S.Murthy, Dean and Placements
Head, IPE; Prof.S.Satish Kumar, Training Coordinator, IPE and Mr.M.Ramesh, CA Technologies are the
other dignitaries who graced the event.

This event could not have been possible without the support from all quarters both internal and external.
