Appointed Membership goes to the next Governing Board Meeting for approval
Concerns
Helen Cookie Gordan Cant vote on anything yet until the CAC Board is in place.
Parent Concerns Form Malynda McGregor will bring a copy of it to the next meeting in
April to share with CAC.
Irma Preciado Expressed this has been the third CAC meeting since January, but no
answers or responses have been provided to parents complaints
George Anich Shared that all parents were contacted and followed up with regarding
their concerns
Paula Arroyo Shared that she did receive guidance on how to get the support she
requested from Cheri Summers. Paula also shared that it would be helpful if the parents
received more information about programs for their children
Malynda McGregor reiterated that the purpose of the CAC is to advise parents and
some of their parent complaints will take time to resolve and she encouraged their
patience with the process.
Helen Cookie Gordan Asked for clarification on the two positions the Director holds
and what is the difference between the Director and the SELPA roles.
George Anich Said at the next meeting he can provide a presentation and explain the
differences between the two roles: Director and SELPA Director
Jill Santos Expressed the need for follow up regarding the problem at Widenmann
Elementary school with the teacher vacancy.
Shellie Higuera Shared that maybe a section of the Directors Report can provide
follow up on issues in the Department brought up from previous meeting(s).
Paula Arroyo Further expressed that for a whole year nothing was done to implement
her daughters goals on her IEP.
George Anich Said the he would like to make an appointment with Paula Arroyo to sort
out the details of her daughters IEP with Paula.
Cheri Summers Shared there is a District Uniform Complaint Process parents can do
through Jessica Brown. Cheri said this helps provide documentation per school site that
will enable her to follow up with them.
George Anich Shared there already is a Department process that needs to occur to
answer concerns teacher (case manager), site principal, and program specialist are
resource people to help resolve issues.
Ana Uribe Expressed that she has sent 30 emails and went through the proper order, but
still she has not received any support.
Leilani Duenas Teacher at Steffan Manor shared that parents need to know their
rights, but also parents in regular education with students waiting to be assessed for
special education also need to know their rights, as well.
Samantha Welton Asked why the recruitment strategies to gain more CAC membership
discussed at prior meetings has still not happened. Specifically, why has the Parent
Telephone All-Call System still has not been put into place? Samantha feels that these
meetings are a waste of time, if nothing gets accomplished. Additionally, Samantha
further shared that she tried to walk some flyers into school sites, but was turned away
from administrators saying its not allowed.
Cheri Summers Explained that her cabinet will begin to differentiate between the
district flyers and all other flyers to ensure districts meetings take priority and paper
flyers will resume again to ensure this happens.
Malynda McGregor Shared she has brought extra copies of flyers for Aprils meeting
for parents to take and share with other parents.
Adela Cruz Parent of student Kevin Argueta shared that her sons IEP that took place in
December but is still not in place yet.

Cheri Summers LCAP will be postponed to Aprils meeting, due to lack of time
Directors Report
George Anich shared information on Local Plan Area policies FAPE, Eligibility,
Child Find, Opportunity, IEPs, etc. George further shared information on special
education funding and inequities among districts. There is a meeting this Friday, March
17th that George invited any of the parents to attend with him in Redwood City to discuss
equalizing funding.
Leilani Duenas Asked where does the money for Medical billing go and how is it
spent? She heard that it goes to Academic Support Providers (ASP) and wonders why
because they are not allowed to work with any special education students.
George Anich Explained that it goes back into special education and the Nursing
department.
Helen Cookie Gordan Asked for and itemized list of the budget and has questions
about LCAP and what students LCAP supports.
George Anich Shared that LCAP focuses on supports for English Learners, Foster
Youth and low socio-economic students (SES) in which many of our special education
students fall into those categories.
Malynda McGregor Shared information from the Police Department where parents can
provide information on their children who are runners or wanderers. So when there is a
Missing Persons report, then the Police can take action quicker, due to the missing
persons disabled status.
Lisa Hooks Introduced Stephanie Ryan from Matrix. Stephanie clarified Matrix is not
an advocate, but rather an advisor to parents of disabled children. Trainings are provided
six times a year that provide information related to their childs IEP and support parents.
Paula Arroyo Asked if Matrix has any recreational activities for kids on the weekends.
Helen Cookie Gordan Shared information about GVRD Greater Vallejo Recreation
District and their activities for kids. Cookie further shared 56191 where it indicates that
the Governing Board must approve the CAC Board and the CAC Board only serves as a
Recommendation Board.
Lisa Hooks Shared information on the Santa Rosa Clinic where parents can receive
medical, dental and psychological services for their disabled children. Lisa said she will
email Malynda McGregor the handout on the information.
