Chapter 4

Of Creation

1. In the beginning it pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Hebrews God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by
1:1 the prophets,
Hebrews Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all
1:2 things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Hebrews Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and
1:3 upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Hebrews Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more
1:4 excellent name than they.

Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
Job 26:8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
Job 26:9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
Job 26:10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
Job 26:11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.
Job 26:12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the
proud.
Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

EACH PERSON IN THE GODHEAD, RESPONSIBLE FOR DIVINE WORKS OF


GOD.

The accounts in the bible of creation show that the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit are responsible for creation:

Father: Genesis 1:1; Genesis 2:4, 5; Psalm 102:25; Psalms 148:5; Proverbs 26:10;

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Psalm Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of
102:25 thy hands.
Psalm They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;
102:26 as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
Psalm But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

Job 33:4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

for the manifestation of the glory of His eternal power,

Romans For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being
1:20 understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that
they are without excuse:
Romans Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were
1:21 thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

wisdom, and goodness, to create or make the world, and all things therein,
whether visible, or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good.

Colossians Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the
1:13 kingdom of his dear Son:
Colossians In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Colossians Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Colossians For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible
1:16 and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all
things were created by him, and for him:
Colossians And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Genesis And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the
1:31 evening and the morning were the sixth day.

2. After God hath made all other creatures, He created man, male and female,

Genesis So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and
1:27 female created he them.

with reasonable and immortal souls,

Genesis And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
2:7 nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

rendering them fit unto that life to God, for which they were created; being made
after the image of God, in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness;

Ecclesiastes Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought

Genesis And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have
1:26 dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and
over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

having the law of God written in their hearts,

Romans For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the
2:14 law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Romans Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing
2:15 witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Romans In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my
2:16 gospel.

and power to fulfil it; and yet under a possibility of transgressing, being justify to
the liberty of their own will, which was subject to change.

Genesis And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the
3:6 eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

3. Besides the law written in their hearts, they received a command not to eat of
the tree of knowledge of good and evil;

Genesis And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou
2:16 mayest freely eat:
Genesis But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day
2:17 that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

which whilst they kept, they were happy in their communion with God, and had
dominion over the creatures.

Genesis And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have
1:26 dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and
over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Genesis So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and
1:27 female created he them.
Genesis And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish
1:28 the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of
the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
