It is important to check that sources are credible or trustworthy. We want to make sure that we
use the most accurate and up-to-date information in our work. In order to do that, we have to
evaluate the websites that we use. Certain websites, like ones ending in .gov or .edu, are always
going to be credible. However, other websites may look good, but are really not reliable. Below
is a checklist so you can assess the sources you use. For every source listed on your source cards,
use this checklist by answering the questions and adding up the positive and negative points. To
figure out answers to some of the questions, you have to look hard on the website.

Use this checklist to assess the credibility of your sources.

7 or More Points = This is probably a credible source; use it.
4-6 Points = This might be a credible source; find out more about it before using it.
3 or Fewer Points = This is probably not a credible source; dont use it.
