 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In order to provide a student with job exposure and an opportunity of the transition of
theoretical knowledge into real life experience, an internship is a must. A better balance
between theory & practice can be gained through this program. This internship report
titled is General Banking in Bangladesh A study based on First Security Islami Bank
Ltd. Islampur Branch
prepared as a partial fulfillment of requirements of BBA program at Eastern University.
This report focuses three months working experiences in First Security Islami Bank Ltd.,
Islampur Branch, Dhaka. The report will give a clear idea about the general banking
activities of First Security Islami Bank Ltd., Islampur Branch, Dhaka.
First Security Islami Bank Ltd. is one of the pioneer private banks in Bangladesh
established in 1999 and it emerged as Islami Bank from 01 January, 2009. It has been
rendering banking services in Bangladeshi economy for 14 years. It is now working with
29 branches all over the country, in rural and urban areas. First Security Islami Bank Ltd.
Provides both consumer and business banking services. In consumer banking FSIBL
collects deposits from the group of people or organizations who have surplus amount of
money and then give a percentage of profit for those deposits. On the other hand, they
provide loans or credits to the group of people or organizations those need it and bank
charges a higher rate of profit rather than the profit on deposits.

First Security Islami Bank Ltd. Offers different types of deposits for the different income
groups and professionals in the society such as current account, saving account, short
term deposit, fixed deposit, monthly profit based scheme and so on. They offer attractive
profit for those types of deposits.
