PERSONAL STATEMENT FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDY IN PERIODONTOLOGY

PROGRAM TAUGHT IN KINGS COLLEGE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON

Learning is a long life process where it will continuously develop until our last
breath. This quote inspired me and keeps guiding me throughout my educational
journey. I have graduated from School of Dentistry, University of Science Malaysia in
2010 in Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). I was then become a dental officer in public
sector, serving under Ministry of Health Malaysia for 3 years. The longing in me to
become an academician in my admired field has leaded me to join International
Islamic University Malaysia as a trainee lecturer in department of Periodontics.

Periodontology has captured my interest ever since my undergraduate days.

Many of my friends think that these specialties are dull and tedious, but I find these
subjects challenging and needs critical thinking in order to reach exact diagnosis
that is prior in formulating the treatment plans needed by each patient.
Periodontology is a very broad field that requires one to be very knowledgeable in
every periodontal disease, knowing all their pathognomonic characteristics and be
able to give the exact diagnosis and properly treats the patient. All of these reasons
have become inspiring factors for me to be an expertise in this field.

Kings College University of London has become my first option to pursue my

postgraduate study in Periodontology as the university offers a good curriculum
program for my future career development. Thus, MClinDent Periodontology
teaching program is the best opportunity for me to become a specialist in this field.
Besides, I also fascinated with the fact that Kings College University of London is
very excellent in research field as the university is one of the top 20 universities in
the world. I believe that with this reputation, Kings College University of London will
help me to excel in research field.

As I am currently attached to department of Periodontology in International

Islamic University Malaysia, I was expected to become a specialist in this field near
future. Thus, I am very keen to further my postgraduate study in your institution in
order for me to become specialist of the field.

I believe that I have the attributes which are necessary to succeed in

Periodontology field as I have a naturally curious mind that will lead to critical
thinking and logically solving complex problems. In addition, I also have a very great
passion towards learning and teaching process. I am dedicated with the task given
and always do things wholeheartedly. Another important criterion is, I am a very
calm person which is important towards in attending the problems. My calmness will
be very helpful in looking for the solutions for any problem. Basically I am ideally
prepared to enroll into your postgraduate programme because I am enormously
hardworking person with high self esteem who is devoted and keen to her works.
