Based on todays protocol, what conclusions did you draw about the level of quality displayed in the
student work? In the summer of 2014, teachers were introduced to the idea of high quality work. They
increased their understanding of what it really means for a student to produce high quality work.
Our noticings included the following:
*Student work showed some signs of craftsmanship but authenticity and complexity were not as
strong.
*We began to question the type of work we were asking kids to do.
*Understanding of types of feedback were needed.
Based on todays protocol, what conclusions did you draw about the tasks and scoring tools that
teachers are designing?
The tasks we were giving students were very teacher driven as were the rubrics that were being used
for scoring. Students were not involved in the process.

Based on these conclusions, what goals and action steps did you determine?
We realized that models were needed as well as an increased awareness and use of criteria lists that
students should be involved in creating.
