Engr. Ejaz Saeed Khan, Vice President ( Karachi Office ) , NESPAK

NESPAK has the unique distinction of being the only consulting firm in Pakistan to have successfully undertaken several major
international air port projects. Opening of the spectacular New Terminal Complex (NTC) at Lahore's Allama lqbal
InternationalAirport, is another landmark achievement for Pakistan's engineering consultancy sector.

NTC features a host of sophisticated and state of the art facilities and systems and has been designed by NESPAK without the help of
any foreign or local consultant. NESPAK has created a specialty division dealing in airport projects comprising of highly qualified a
experienced planners, architects and engineers.

NESPAK's track record of airport projects includes the design and supervision of Karachi's Jinnah Terminal on which it associated
with an international firm. It has also undertaken design of the new Islamabad International Air port, Aircraft Maintenance Hanger at
Baku airport, Azerbaijan and Facilities Building at Seeb Airport, Oman.

Presently, NESPAK is also undertaking the design and supervision of a new international airport in Sialkot, civil works of which have
recently commenced.

A world class city

Over the past several years, Pakistan's second largest city, Lahore, has
witnessed dynam is growth, in terms of size and also as a burgeoning
center of economic and commercial activity. Lahore's character is
unique amongst the cities in Pakistan and has always been defined by
the vibrance and energy of its citizens.

Known for its pageantry and colour, Lahore, in many ways reflects the
nation's glori ous Moghul past and its quest for a bright and prosperous
fusion of history, art, architecture, culture, learning, gastronomical
delights, sport, haute couture, industry and agriculture.

The city is also developing into a major tourist destination in Pakistan, offering excellent opportunities to local and foreign visitors for a
truly memorable holiday experience. Located in the heart of the country, Lahore is at the crossroads of transportation network and is a
major hub for road, rail and air traffic.

NESPAK's headquarters are also located here and it has been 1 special privilege for the firm to undertake this project.

Air traffic growth

As Lahore has grown, se has the volume of air traffic at its airport. Passenger volumes have registered a steady increase over the past
few years and are forecast to grow at over 4.5% yearly in the near future. Apart from domestic carriers, many foreign airlines are
operating regular flights form Lahore, while several others have shown strong interest to include it on their international networks.

The present airport at Lahore is a joint military and civil airport. With the passage of time, facilities were expanded in several phases
to cater for the increasing passenger traffic. Physical constraints at the site of the present terminal, however, hampered further
expansion with the result that congestion at peak time increased and service levels suffered. It, therefore, became imperative that a
new passenger terminal be constructed to replace the present facility.

Upon its creation in 1982, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) embarked on an ambitious plan to undertake improvements in the
existing aviation infrastructure to bring Pakistan at par with developed countries in this sector. Its first major project, the Jinnah
Terminal at Karachi airport, inaugurated in 1992, is one of the finest and most modern in the entire region. After completion of Jinnah
Terminal, CAA turned its attention towards the design and construction of a new rnulti billion rupee terminal at Lahore airport.

Site selection, studies and design

Site selection and feasibility studies were carried out for the Lahore airport project and a site on the eastern side of the existing runway
was selected and approved by the Government of Pakistan in 1992. bout 640 acres of land was acquired from the Pakistan Army for
the new terminal complex. The master plan of the new site and detailed design of facilities was subsequently undertaken completely
by NESPAK.

Right from the inception stage, the project was conceived to provide a world class facility that would serve as a major international
gateway to Pakistan. The designers at NESPAK laid great emphasis on functionality, high levels of passenger service, state of the art
systems and other facilities. But apart from the concrete and steel, the granite and glass, the cabling and the maze of ductwork,
NESPAK envisioned the project to epitomize the vivacity and joie de vivre of Lahore.

Therefore, the design of architectural forms and elements, choice of building materials, textures, colours and other finishes were all
choreographed to create an ambiance that blends integrally with the city and its landscape.
