Teacher of Shafiq Memorial Sr. Secondary School, Delhi, have shared with us their
thoughts on the content that they went through bringing out a beautiful
collaboration of theory and practice in classroom teaching.
Zeeshan has shared his view on the same content. I like the idea that Singapore
schools highlight and let students become the creators of their own knowledge!
This strategy requires a teacher to give up some control by letting the students self
direct their learning. Of course this requires some training in metacognitive skills
such as reflection and self-regulation.
Emmon shared her views on the video , "Can Technology Change Education?" by
Raj Dhingra. She strongly agrees with the presenter in the video that
spending is not the answer to bring a change in education. Self-paced
curriculum, blended learning, teacher-student collaboration along with
technology can change education. Technology also shouldn't be used in just
supplementary labs but should be used simultaneously while teaching in the
classroom. She talks about a section of the video where the learners who do not
have access to technology, but soon get access to technology and there is
student-centric learning. I felt a connection to this part of the video
especially as many Shafiq students are also from economically weaker
sections of the society. As they now have access to technology in Google
Future Lab in their school, they feel very excited to work on the
chromebook.
