1. Professor
a. Schools should ready kids for college so that they may excel in their programs of
study and be able to go into the workforce ready to do good work.
b. The thing he would change would be the fact that students have just become
numbers for colleges and they should be people.
c. College is getting too expensive because schools are relying more on tuition to
finance themselves rather than the government funding.
2. 7th grade teacher
a. Teachers need to show students that their subject is important and properly
prepare them to succeed later in life.
b. The biggest issue is that teachers arent getting paid enough. Especially higher
level math and science teachers. Those jobs go unfilled, because people with
high enough degrees go to other jobs that pay more.
c. The issue with money is that school is not getting enough funding. This is difficult
because college tuition is rising and not many people want to be teachers
because the pay is so low.
3. My neighbor Dan Mosiman. He owns a contracting business.
a. Teachers need to show students all the possibilities that they can take with their
future.
b. The biggest issue is that elective classes take a backseat to core classes. This
doesnt allow students to explore all their possibilities.
c. The problem is their isnt enough funding for career and technical school. The
other issue is that electives are being weeded out because of lack of funding for
public school too.
4. My neighbor Mary Mosiman. State Auditor
a. I expect that schools teach kids the necessary skills to follow the laws of society
and to be proper citizens.
b. I would put more of a focus being ready to perform civic obligations and duties
rather than skills that wont be used later in life. Example used was a math class
that focuses on how to do taxes rather than doing algebra 2.
5. Parents My mom
a. I expect that schools treat kids fairly, and make sure that each kid gets a proper
learning experience that is fair to all kids.
b. I would make the teachers better. I have dealt with a lot of awful teachers in my
kids schooling experience and we need some better ones.
c. The biggest issue is that the good teachers are turned off because they can get
higher paying jobs going to school for the same amount of time.
