Prayer for Leader

Make us a great nation, yes. But more than that, make us good, Lord, with a hear
tbeat that wants every person of every creed and color to know Your love, Your g
oodness, and Your worth. Make us wise as serpents, but gentle as doves. Turn our
fears to faith, as we look to You and You alone for the future of our country.
Give us God-confidence that no matter what happens, we will believe You are not
only in control, but that You know exactly what is needed to accomplish Your pur
pose. Help us not to second-guess Your moves, but to move at Your command, alway
s without hesitation.
We look to You and to You, only, Lord. Help us make wise decisions that move our
country in the right direction. Help us to do our part in praying and in stayin
g with what we know is right according to the truth of Your Word. Teach us to ma
ke our actions count and our words matter, and line them both up to Your sense o
f rightness, not ours. Guide us with Your eye; grip us with Your strong arm; tea
ch us what we need to know to make our lives and our nation count for you. We pray f
or our leaders, but we ask You to make us both leaders and followers: leading in
the way of Truth, and following those who honor You.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus,
Amen

Prayer for Healing

I absolutely believe you have the power to heal. You demonstrated that on earth,
and you still heal in miraculous ways today. Even when my faith is weak, you sa
y it is enough, and my love for you is strong. And I know you already hold my he
art and life in your hands. It's up to you. If I can bring you more glory throug
h healing, then that's what I ask for. That's what I desire.
But if your answer is no, or not now, I know that your grace is sufficient for m
e. Ultimately, I want your will to be my will. I look forward to spending an ete
rnity with you. But Lord, if you have planned still more for me to do here on th
is earth, I not only need and want your physical healing, Lord, but a thorough,
deep-down cleansing and strengthening a whole-hearted renewal of all that I am. Be
cause all that I am is yours. Use this trial to strengthen me from a "what-if" f
aith to a "no-matter-what" faith. And no matter what, I choose to honor you and
give you glory.
In Jesus's name, Amen.

Prayer for Thanksgiving

Thank you, God, for this food we are about to eat. And thank You for Your many b
lessings on us this past year...the ones we've seen, as well as the ones we hav
en't seen.
Thank you, God for the times You have said "no." They have helped us depend on Y
ou so much more.
Thank you, God, for unanswered prayer. It reminds us that You know what's best f
or us, even when our opinion differs.
Thank You for the things you have withheld. You have protected us from what we m
ay never realize.

Thank You, God, for the doors You have closed. They have prevented us from going
where You would rather not have us go.
Thank you, Lord, for the physical pain You've allowed in our lives. It has help
ed us more closely relate to Your sufferings on our behalf.
Thank you, Lord, for the alone times in our lives. Those times have forced us to
lean in closer to You.
Thank you, God, for the uncertainties we've experienced. They have deepened our
trust in You.

Thank You, Lord, for the times You came through for us when we didn't even know
we needed a rescue.
Thank You, Lord, for the losses we have experienced. They have been a reminder t
hat You are our greatest gain.
Thank You, God, for the tears we have shed. They have kept our hearts soft and m
oldable.
Thank You, God, for the times we haven't been able to control our circumstances.
They have reminded us that You are sovereign and on the throne.
Thank You, God, for Your ability to take what we consider 'tragedy' and turn it
into a treasure.
Thank You, God, for those You have called home to be with You. Their absence fro
m this earth reminds us to keep our eyes fixed on heaven.
Thank You, God, that we have an inheritance in the heavenly places...something t
hat this world can never steal from us and we could never selfishly squander.
Thank You, God, for the greatest gift You could ever give us: forgiveness throug
h Your perfect Son's death on the cross on our behalf.
Thank you, God, for the righteousness You credited toward us, through the death
and resurrection of Jesus. It's a righteousness we could never attain to on our
own.
And thank You not only for our eternal salvation, but for the salvation You affo
rd us every day of our lives as You save us from ourselves, our foolishness, o
ur own limited insights, and our frailties in light of Your power and strength.
Thank You, God, for all that You have allowed and not allowed in our lives this
past year. For we commit our lives anew to You this day and ask that You would
continue to remind us, throughout this next year, that You are God, You are on
the throne, and You are eternally good.
Thank You, finally, that we can pray in the name of Jesus, who made our access t
o You and a personal relationship with You possible. Amen.
