Article Review 2
The title of article that I reviewed is Effective Teaching Practices That Promote a
Positive Classroom Environment, and the authors are Ashley S. MacSuga-Gage, Brandi
Simonsen, and Donald E. Briere. Basically this article talks about how we can promote a positive
classroom environment as a teacher. In this article, the authors are saying that here are some of
the ideas to practices in the class to promote a positive classroom environment and they
encourage readers to gain more ideas from further readings that they recommended. In this
article, the authors claim that effective teachers are who engage in reflective and proactive
is the reason behind this article is to help the reader to be an effective teacher who build the
positive classroom environment. The authors start introduce the class-wide teaching practices
which means a set of observable and measurable actions a teacher can engage in to support all
students within his or her classroom. Then they talks about Key Areas of Effective Teaching
Practice, and the areas that they mention are Deliver explicit and Engaging academic
Develop Positive Relationships with Students and Their Families. Basically, authors try to say
that these are what we have found and let readers to consider these ideas for their classroom.
Interestingly, this article includes charts so that readers can really work on the practices
or find more ideas from further readings. The authors emphasize more on helping the readers got
the ideas so that ideas can apply in the classroom by the readers (teachers). Personally, I like this
article and I think it is helpful for every teacher who wants to build the positive classroom
climate. And what I like about this article is the authors include even the university classroom
management. While I was doing my teaching practicum in SPH, I was struggling with my

classroom management. And I think I could apply these principles and practices in my next
student teaching. And while I was reading this article I was thinking of my cooperating since she
was doing one of these practices in her classroom. For example, she has wide communication
with her students parent, and she sometimes invited them to the class as a guest reader. And
In addition, as a Christian teacher its good to apply these principles in our class to build a
positive classroom, but on the other side we should not forget about we are not fighting against
the flesh and bone but spiritually which are unseen. To conclude, I recommend this article to
