SEWING KITS
April means Sewing Kits for Lutheran World
Relief. Youve maybe heard the analogy
about teaching someone to fish well you
can help teach a person to sew and provide
the tools to earn an income and break out
of poverty. Project Promise Fabric Kits are
used in vocational training programs to
teach young men and women useful,
marketable skills. Each kit should include:
TWO spools of neutral-colored, general
purpose thread, 250-300 yards each
TWO pieces of cotton or cotton-blend fabric
(no knits of 100% polyester). Each piece
should match one of the sizes below:
2 yards of 60 wide fabric bands & speakers, childrens tent, inflatables,
3 yards of 44 wide fabric
4 yards of 36 wide fabric

flyer near the washtub in the west hallway.
Its SPRING and you know that means Spring
Cleaning! All available helpers should meet
in the Fellowship Hall kitchen on Monday,
May 1, at 9 AM. Not to exclude anyone,
men are also invited to help! Bring the tools
of your choice and see you there!

at their location on 7th & Madison. Sign up on the
Registration Slip in the bulletin if you would like
to help!
May 4th: Kids Club/Date Night- Drop your
newborn through 6th grader off at the Fellowship
Hall between 5-5:30 and go have an evening out
on us! Your child will be provided supper and fun
activities with adult supervision. Pick your child
back up by 8. Please watch for sign-up
opportunities on the Registration Slip at a later
date. Number & ages of children will be required
to allow the team to prepare accordingly.
June 9th & 10th: Christian Cross Festival at
Skyview Lake. Gather your friends and family and
plan to attend this free annual event. National
kayakingGREAT fun for all ages! Watch future
bulletins for more details about this event.
June 22nd: Music in the Park at Skyview
Lake. 6-9:30 PM Bring a lawnchair or blanket,
your favorite beverage & snacks, and join your
St. Johns family under the yellow windsock for a
free evening of fun & fellowship. All ages
welcome!
MOTHER/DAUGHTER SUPPER
WELCA will have their Mother/Daughter
Supper on Thursday evening, April 27, at
6 pm. At that time the Tangible Offering for
the Food Security Project will be collected.

congregation would be willing to help serve

Summer Camp is an awesome faith and
confidence-building experience!
Carol Joy Holling Camp, located just outside of
Ashland, NE, offers summer camp programs for 1st-
12th grade students, families and people with special
needs! You can attend for just $50 with the
remainder of registration fees picked up by St.
Johns Benefaction Board. Simply register your
child online at caroljoyholling.org and, at checkout,
select Pay By Check. Then pay a $50 non-
refundable deposit to St. Johns Camps & Retreats
fund, who will then pick up the total registration.
CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Call Committee and the Congregation
Council have been working very hard on the call
process with a candidate during the last several
months. We were deep into the process and
ready to bring the candidate to meet the
congregation when the candidate withdrew.
We are disappointed and saddened by this
change and are now regrouping to move
forward. The Call Committee is committed to
finding the right Senior Pastor for St. Johns and
we are grateful for the Councils support, for
the Synods assistance, for the congregations
patience, and for everyones prayers.

Easter Cantata next weekend, April 22-23. The
cantata Praise the God of Resurrection
provides a musical journey through the Passion
and Resurrection of Christ. Walking through
the last days of Jesus' earthly life, this short
cantata is a moving reminder of the power of
the living God. Join us at 5pm on Saturday,
8:30am or 11am on Sunday.
