Evaluation of One-Hour Workshop

My one-hour workshop consisted of a tutorial on how to create a home-page for teachers

courses on Canvas. The workshop consisted of a face-to-face instruction where I showed

teachers how to set up a front page for their course. After our instructional time, teachers were

instructed to complete their own welcome page for a course they are teaching this year. Once

teachers were satisfied with their welcome page, I showed them how to publish it and make it

their front page. The second part of my instructional workshop consisted of a tutorial on how to

use GoFormative as a digital tool in the classroom. The tutorial was also a one-to-one step

process where teachers created their own GoFormative for their classroom. During this time,

teachers could ask questions as they worked through creating their own GoFormative for their

class.

After both parts of my instructional workshop, teachers were instructed to complete a

survey about what they learned from this session. Teachers responded to this survey

anonymously to ensure responses were as honest as possible. The survey used was sent out

using Google Docs and results were recorded in the table below. Overall, survey results suggest

that teachers were satisfied with the content taught and two out of three teachers who

participated can see themselves using it in the future. One teacher though she needed extra help

to set up her Canvas page and GoFormative, so she did not think she would be using either thing

in the near future. The teachers who participated in this session also gave suggestions on how to

make this better for next time. One of the teachers suggested to allow more hands-on practice.

She felt that not enough time was given to them to practice their new skill. Another teacher said

she felt the pace was too slow, and she thought we should go faster next time. I thought they
were very valid suggestions, and I will definitely consider them for the next training session I

offer.
