Dear Superintendent,

As far as I can remember I have wanted to be a teacher. I somehow managed to
incorporate teaching strategies and activity facilitation into most aspects of my life growing
up, which has continued to flourish as I have grown personally and professionally. My love
of literature thrived as an English and French student because it gave me the opportunity
to explore texts in unique ways, which I aspire to imprint onto all of my students. My
teaching experience over the past 5 years has given me diverse opportunities to practice
and refine my skills pertinent to students in the 4th to the 12th grade, which confirmed my
success in choosing a career path.

My lessons are tailored to students interests to engage them in authentic learning
tasks, which allows for enhanced stimulation and an increase in productivity that results in
a higher calibre of performance. Each lesson is founded on the Gradual Release of
Responsibility model to cultivate a greater level of student accountability along with
various diagnostic and formative assessment opportunities to move forward productively.

I believe the classroom environment directly influences student success. For some
students school is a home; therefore, it is important that my classroom atmosphere reflects
the most positive attributes found in a healthy home trust, respect, inclusivity, creativity,
equity, and safety. These values were instilled in me through classroom education as well
as extra-curricular activities, which I feel are equally influential in the development of well-
rounded individuals. My experiences with sports as a coach, referee, and player, and
students council as the Head of Spirit facilitating fundraisers, assemblies, dances, and
spirit days, along with mentoring programs like Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Kaleidoscope
have been consequential to my development. For that reason, it is my objective to guide
students to benefit from similar opportunities.

Currently, I am enrolled in the Intermediate-Senior program at Queens University
and will be available for teaching positions in September. In the meantime, I intend to
obtain my Junior and Special Education Part I teaching qualifications. I am also willing to
pursue any additional qualifications helpful to any particular school or teaching subject.

As a result of my experiences I am confident that I have developed the desirable
character traits of a qualified educator inclusivity, positivity, professionalism, and
dependability. I will make myself available at your convenience and I look forward to
meeting with you in person. Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

Cara Watson
