Installation Instructions
1. Determine jacket cutback; mark cable.

Cutback must be long enough to allow positioning of insulated conductors

without violating the bend radius (usually 10 times the diameter of the
cable) and fit within the min/max dimensions shown in Table 1.

*Note: If a sealing boot is to be used, at least 4" (102mm) of jacket must be Measure

2. Remove outer jacket.

Remove the outer jacket (and/or armor) and any filler or bedding tapes
around all three phases to the mark made in Step 1.

Note: Do not cut into the shielding layer or phase insulation. Phase Shield

3. Position rejacketing tubes.

If using UniShield cable, discard rejacketing tubes and go to Step 6.

Place one rejacketing tube (larger diameter) over each phase. Bottom of
tube should be within 1" (25mm) of the jacket cutback. Rejacketing

4. Shrink rejacketing tubes in place.

Shrink in place beginning at the cable jacket end. Work the torch around
each tube and to the end of the phase with a smooth brushing motion to
ensure even shrinkage.

5. Trim rejacketing tubes.

Allow the tubes to cool enough to touch. Trim excess tubing from the end of
each phase.

6. Clean jacket.

Using an approved solvent, clean the cable jacket for 4" (102mm) below the
jacket cutback.

7. Position sealing boot.

Thread the three phases and ground wire(s) through the sealing boot. The
phases go through the large holes; grounds go through the small holes.

Slide the boot over the cable jacket (or jacket shim) as far as it will go.
Insert the plugs into any unused ground holes. Hang the plugs by locks as
shown.

Sealing Boot

8. Shrink boot in place.

Begin shrinking boot fingers. Shrink down over body onto cable jacket.
