Dear Parents,

My name is Madison Starr and I will be your childs 1st grade teacher this year. I graduated from

Grand Valley State University with an Elementary Education degree and an emphasis in mathematics.

During this time, I became very strong in learning how to create a classroom that children can feel safe

in as well as get the best education possible.

My classroom focuses on classroom community. Your childs job while in my classroom is to

learn from me, as well as learn from each other. My classroom is set up in a way that makes

collaboration easy. Students are set up in groups so they can use each other to assist them in their

learning. Students are expected to ask for help from their peers to hear an explanation in a new way.

Students who understand the topic are expected to explain it to their peers, which will make them

stronger in this topic.

My classroom is not based on grades and correct answers. Rather, it is based on learning from

our mistakes. If something is done incorrectly, I expect my students to learn from that mistake and then

fix it. When we fix our mistakes, our brains are growing. Our focus is on growth rather than grades.

The last and most important aspect of my classroom is kindness. My classroom is somewhere

where every child feels loved and every child feels safe. Students will respect each other and support

each other in their learning. There is a no tolerance policy in my classroom for students who are being

unkind and interfering with learning. If this takes place, there will be consequences.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child and working as a partnership with you to

help your child grow as much as possible this year. Thank you.

escuchar una explicacin de una nueva manera. Se espera que los estudiantes que entiendan el tema lo

expliquen a sus compaeros, lo que los har ms fuertes en este tema.

Mi aula no se basa en calificaciones y respuestas correctas. Ms bien, se basa en aprender de

nuestros errores. Si algo se hace incorrectamente, espero que mis estudiantes aprendan de ese error y

lo arreglen. Cuando arreglamos nuestros errores, nuestro cerebro est creciendo. Nuestro enfoque est

en el crecimiento en lugar de grados.

El ltimo y ms importante aspecto de mi aula es la bondad. Mi aula est en algn lugar

donde cada nio se siente amado y cada nio se siente seguro. Los estudiantes se respetarn

mutuamente y se apoyarn mutuamente en su aprendizaje. Hay una poltica de "no tolerancia" en mi

saln de clases para los estudiantes que estn siendo desagradables e interfieren con el aprendizaje. Si

esto ocurre, habr consecuencias.
