Comments from BSC Supervisor

Observation 1 - Travis was reviewing plotting direction graphs with the students. He worked individually
with the students and then realized the entire class needed additional help. He reviewed the assignment
as an entire group on the board. He then covered the back of the worksheet. The teacher also assisted
those students that needed additional help. Travis did not have his lesson plans with him. The class size
is very small.
Observation 2 - Travis was working with the student on their AR tests, when I arrived. Next, he gave the
students a worksheet to complete. Third, he had the students complete a handwriting worksheet on
dotting the is and crossing the ts. He had his doctors excuse for (T and W) of this week. He also had his
past lesson plans available.
Observation 3 - Travis taught math this afternoon. He reviewed money/coins skills during his lesson. He
used the Smart Board during his lesson. He worked with students independently as needed. He called on

the entire class by using the right hand (correct) and left hand (incorrect) system. He drew sticks to call
on students to go to the board. He also reminded students to put their pencils in the ditch. Next, he
covered a worksheet on the same concept. His classroom management skills are improving. He also had
his lesson plans for the entire week (Ela and math). His lesson plans were not in the classroom. He had to
go and get them.
Observation 4 Travis was reviewing cents during his math lesson. The students were completing the
concept on a worksheet. The students struggled with writing cents and counting money. He worked
independently with those students that needed additional help. He graded their worksheets and had
students redo as needed. Students that finished early read their AR books. He had his lesson plans. The
seats in the room had been rearranged. The lesson ended a fire drill.
Obsedrvation 5- It is Dr. Seuss week at Herndon. The kids were dressed in their ourfits this morning.
Travis had the students raise their hands per specific directions. He did not have his lesson pland printed.
He reminded students of the rule this morning, if you dont pay attention/listen you have to read the
story out loud. He used the Smart Board for the reading story. The story was entitled Gloria-who might
be my best friend. He reviewed the job of the author, the job of the illustrator, real verses not real in the
story, the term prediction in the story, and vocaulary words thorughout the story. He did not have his
