MULTI-MEDIA AUTHORING TEMPLATE

Name: Kyle Durand

PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. The students could reach a LoTi level 4 if I have them go home and create their own movie
introducing a sport. The students would be creating everything on their own and that is why it would reach a LoTi level 4

Grade Level: 7th

Content Area: Physical Education- Golf
Technology Used (check all that apply): Movie Audio Podcast Vodcast Other: (list)

Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed: PE 7.6: Values physical activity for

health, enjoyment, challenge, self expression, and/or socialinteraction. The topic
addressed in this video is an introduction to golf.

Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and
teachers do? How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will
use/care about the multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will
student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide feedback to students about their work?
(Overview should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs) The movie would be presented at the beginning of class to help
introduce the lesson and unit for the day. Students will have no involvement in the movie except for watching it. The movie will
last just over five minutes. During the movie I will give students some facts that are not listed in the movie and will ask them to
recall them after the movie is over.

I feel this is a great way to introduce a new topic to students. It catches their attention I believe it catches their attention
more when they can see and watch certain aspects of what the topic being introduced is. Teachers can also gauge students
interests before even talking about the topic. A teacher might get a few students who have played the game before, or had seen
the video clips in the movie before. So I feel this is a great tool for all teachers to use.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? LoTi
1, the teacher is using the technology but the students are not.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could
the project be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other
types of technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience? No the project could not happen
without the use of moviemaker. I would not have been able to create a smooth transition movie that incorporated pictures, music
and videos without this technology.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether
in part or whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from
others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet
safety and student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain
how youd minimize risks to students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and
follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.
