Reflection from prior lesson:

I think the concept of todays lesson was okay, but I do not think I implemented it in the

2 Content Delivery (25 minutes, Class Discussion, Hands-on Activity)

Presidents Day is an important holiday! Why do you think it is important?

Can any of you name any Presidents?

The President we are going to talk about today is George Washington. Can
anyone tell me anything about George Washington?

Okay, we are going to read a book called, George Washington.

Read the book to the class.

What can you tell me about George Washington after reading the book?

Who was George Washington married to?

Where did George Washington live? Did he live in the White House? Where was
he live after his presidency?
Is there anything else you learned about George Washington that you would like
to share?

Since George Washington is such an important name, I think we need to practice

spelling it!

We are going to practice spelling George Washington by doing a letter sort! This
page shows us how to spell George Washington! It shows us on the page. Now, at
bottom there are letters for us to cut out!

I would like all of the students to cut out the letters. When you are done with
cutting out the letters, I would like for you to mix all of the letters out! Then you
can go ahead and glue the letters in the correct order!

Now go ahead and sort your letters!

3 Closure (5 minutes)

What is Presidents Day? Who are we celebrating?

Who can tell me which president we learned about today? What number
president was he?

Lets practice spelling George Washington by cheer spelling his name!
