ASSESSMENT : MOCK PRESS CONFERENCE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The mock press conference activity is to provide a platform for students to


test their ability in terms of research and analysis on any crisis/issues which
related to Public Relations functions in Malaysian case study. The selection of
topic must contain a newsworthy and informative which valuable to the
relevant publics.

In a group of four to five (4 5) persons, the students should apply the


knowledge and theories in Public Relations during the Mock Press
Conference, by selecting appropriate spokespersons to the issues.

2.0 THE GUIDELINE FOR MOCK PRESS CONFERENCE

a. Decide or select on an topic / issues / crisis / event in any organization


Public, Private, NGOs

b. Analyze the topic / issues / crisis how it happened, how it affects the
public, the importance & implications to the organization etc

c. Explain on the efforts taken by the organization in addressing the issues /


crisis OR in managing the Public Relations event PR Process

d. Students are required to prepare the press-kit for the audience.

e. Students are strongly encouraged to use their creativity in this activity.


Prop, Audio visual etc.

f. The presentation should be within 30 minutes including Q&A.

2.0 FORMAT OF THE PRESS RELEASE

a) Please refer to the text book; Figure 9.1; page 195

b) Submission within one week after the Mock Press Conference activity.
