"Millions in need as East Africa food crisis worsens." Plan International. N.p., n.d. Web.
20 Apr. 2017.

Summary
A non-profit organization, Plan International, is explaining the famine situation in Africa,
their role in helping the affected, and asking their followers for donations to increase the
organization's ability to help.

Strengths
The article is very recent, and shows hard facts about the extent of the famine, especially
in the country of South Sudan. The claims about women being the hardest hit in times of famine
is explained logically, and persuasively. It also shows information on much of the eastern Africa
famine, a situation that has only developed in the last year or so.

Weaknesses
The article is short, and while concise left out a lot of information on the situations of
Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya (although they are mentioned in passing). The articles main point
is to try to have people donate to the organization, and this is clear with the fluffy language
they use when explaining how the organization has helped so far. Some parts of the article are
left purposefully vague, such as how many children are currently dying due to the famine, so that
people will feel more inclined to donate.

Relevance To Research Topic

The article talks about the multiple famines happening throughout Africa, and despite its
length, the information especially on South Sudan would be helpful in writing a report about the
current conditions, and also on how non-profit organizations are helping.
