An Interview with Pedro Calosa

- Born in Bauang, La Union -- migrated to Tayug (early part of the American Occupation)
- Learned about Guardia de Honor -- from his mothers death
- army of liberation, a legion to free the poor people and stop their suffering (same as
Santa Iglesia)
- Worked in Hawaii for a few years -- sugar and pineapple fields
- 1926 -- organized Beginning of Progress -- Filipino contract workers to form a union and
instigated them to strike -- demand better wages and living condition
- Went to jail -- deported back
- 1927 -- Returned to Tayug

Philippine National Association


- Founded in 1928 -- End suffering of the poor
- Grew to over 1200 farmers as members
- 1929 -- Arrested but declared innocent
- Threatened and beaten

Tayug Uprising
- Revolt vs feudal systems and practices
- Goal -- to get independence (X other choice)
- Punished for being the leader -- sent to Bilibid and transferred to Corregidor -- released in 1939
