Town Budget Rotary Donates Zodiac

Proposed At Over
$5 Million To Fire Department
By DARRYL HOLYK

T he Town of Minnedosa has finalized its first

budget/financial plan since the order was made
to pay back a portion of taxes collected from Hus-
ky over the past few years. This scenario created a
major challenge for The Town as it reduced the tax
base. We not only have to contend with the pay-
ment we have to make back (to Husky) but we also
have to contend with the reduced tax money com-
ing in from them (Husky), stated Mayor Ray Orr.
The Towns balanced Financial Plan for 2017
comes in at just over $5 million and a proposed mu-
nicipal tax increase of approximately 1.9 percent.
Town Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Chris
Yuen explained that had the assessment base and
school taxes stayed the same as last year, the overall
increase would have been just over half of one per-
cent. But, this years increase reflects a lower assess-
ment base and the school tax increase from Rolling
River School Division of close to six percent. The
overall increase, combined (municipal and school
taxes), is a proposed 3.27 percent increase from last
year, stated Yuen.
Just over $1.6 million has been budgeted for Members of Minnedosa Rotary Club
capital expenditures planned for 2017. $466,000 is
