Why Won't The Tracksuit Epidemic End Already?

It's back, and it's uglier than ever; or, maybe we were just so ready to take all that velour out back
and trash it already! The tracksuit epidemic has hit us all over again. Guess Missy Elliot must be
mighty pleased right now. (Watch her music videos and you'll get the reference.) Anyways, for
those who do like the trend, here's a roller coaster back to the future edition you're going to love:

The Velour That Was

Recent turn of events suggest that the athleisurewear trend we had come to love in the last
two years (yes, yoga pants 24x7), could soon be replaced by the velour trend, which for some
reason the fashion industry is positioning as an upgrade. So, even though Juicy Couture's once-
upon-a-time "fashionable" velour tracksuits became a relic in a museum (no, we're not joking) and
stores in the US began shutting shop, brand Vetements, the biggest newsmaker at Paris Haute
Couture show, resurrected them from the archives with their SS17 showcaseand, people loved it!

They Look Great On The Ramp

Sneakers, bomber jackets, and drawstring pants, all signalled the advent of athleisurewear in the
last few years. And while high street brands capitalised on the fitness wave with leggings and
outerwear by the hundreds, we'd never seen luxury brands step into the arena until... Chloe, Gucci,
and Versace took the plunge to create collections around athletic pieces at Fashion Weeks. We
saw track pants and heels becoming a statement worth making, and sure, it was all very appealing.
Their capability to take something that's, in many ways, an antithesis, to create a fashionable
ensemble was commendable.

Celebs Who Fueled The Velour Trend

Rita Ora, Olivia Palermo, Amy Adams, Iman have all made a case for the comeback of velour. And,
as much as we're surprised they've taken the bait, it's the sister duos of the modelling world that
have really fueled the fire for both velour, and tracksuits, woven together, and separately.

Bella has been spotted in her version of tracksuits more often than not. This '90s child at heart has
been bringing back some of those done with styles (including chokers), and its all about the
accessories that make her look so good. On the flipside, Gigi Hadid in super low tracks flaunting
her bare midriff is an image that's now forever fixed in our minds.

Kylie Jenner could easily be the Queen of the three-striped Adidas tracksuit, which she is seen in,
most of the time. And then there's Kendall, who loves to pair hers with bomber jackets or denim
outerwear.

Style Tips To Get The Tracksuit Right:

Wear your favourite pair of tracks with a ribbed crop top to make it a stylish ensemble.
Throw on a bomber instead of the tracksuit jacket to make it worthy of 2017.
Ditch the sneaks! Team your tracksuits with boots for a trendy #OOTD.
Don't shy away from accessories. Chokers, sunnies, and a cool bowler bag are all good
bets.

It's in the details. Choose tracksuits with interesting embroideries and logos paired with
printed or lettered jackets instead of the regular all-black or navy suits.
