2.

2 Demonstrate a structured and systematic approach in measurement for Task


2.1 (P2.2, M3.1, & D2.1)

Every work or measurements we use measurement rules so in this project I follow the all
measurement rules

Class D: Demolition and site clearance

Measurement Rules
M1 pipeline within buildings and other structure shall be measured only where their nominal
bore exceed 300mm

Definition Rules
D1 General clearance shall include the demolition and removal all of article objects expressly
required to be cleared except those for which separate items are given as set out this class

D2 invasive plant species shall include any plant whose control is governed by legislation and
which is treated by herbicidal or chemical presses

D3 Girth of trees shall be measured 1m above ground level

D4 The volume use in the classification of building and other structure shall be their
approximate volume occupied excluding any volume below the original surface

Coverage Rules
C1 Items for demolition and site clearance shall be deemed to include disposal of the material
arising

C2 items to general clearance which include the removal of the hedges shall be deemed to
include the removal of hedge stumps of any diameter where these are also requite to be
removed

C3 Items for invasive plant species shall include for the disposal any vegetable matter
remaining after treatment

Class E: Earthworks

Measurement Rules
M1 The commencing surface adopted in the preparation of BOQ shall be adopted for the
measurement of the completed work
M2 Excavation classed as by dredging in the BOQ shall be measured as by dredging
irrespective of the method of excavation aboded by the contractor

M3 Measurement of excavation by dredging shall be made from soundings unless otherwise


started

M4 the volume measured for the excavation structure or foundation shall be the volume which is
to be either occupied by or vertically above any part of structure or foundation

M5 the area measured for timber or metal support left in shall be the area of supported surface
for which the supports are expressly required to be left in

Definition Rules
D1 Excavated material shall be deemed to be material other than disposal rock or artificial hard
material unless otherwise stated in the item description

D2 Excavation in or under embankment executed prior to placing of fill shall be classed as


excavation for cuttings

D3 Excavation from within borrow pits shall be classed as general excavation

Coverage Rules
C1 Items for excavation shall be deemed in including upholding sides of excavation additional
excavation to provide working space and removal of dead service

C2 Item description for excavation shall be deemed to include removal of pipes of any material
or diameter
C3 Items for excavation with borrow pits shall be deemed to include removal or replacement
and unsuitable material
Class F: In situ concrete

Measurement Rules
M1 The volume of concrete measured shall including that occupied by
Reinforcement and other metal section
Pre-stressing components
Cast in components each not exceeding 0.1m3 in volume
Rebates grooves throats fillets chambers or internal space each not exceeding 0.01 m2
in cross section area
Poker and holes whish are define as large or small voids in accoratance with rule D3 of
class G
Joints or joint components between volume of in situ concrete
M2 The volume of concrete measured shall exclude that of nibs or external splays each not
exceeding 0.01m2 in cross section area
M3 Colums and pipes integral with a wall shall be measured as part of wall except where
expressly required to be cast separately

M4 Beams integral with a slab shall be measured as part of the slab except where expressly
required be cast separately

Definition Rules
D1 Items for the provision of concrete shall be classified in accordance with BS 8500

D2 Concrete shall be classed as designed concrete where the designer is responsible for
ensuring the requirement for the concrete are in accordance with a standards

D3 Concrete shall be classed as designed concrete where the design of the concrete is
generated by the concrete producer

D4 Concrete shall be classed as standard prescribed concrete where it is limited to simple


structural non reinforcement
