Design Specification Requirement

1. Availability to the The website must be useable on web browsers at Southview School.
Client Multiple computers (with various operating systems, display widths,
and internet browsers) will be used to open and interact with all
pages and functions of the website. All solutions used should be
readily available to the client so that they dont need to incur any
additional cost to use the program.

2. Cost Cost of hosting the website should be no more than $15/month.

3. Display Size Appropriateness of Display Elements - All elements (buttons,


text, images, videos, etc.) must be larger than 100px in order to be
easily readable by students with visual impairments.

Element Placement - Page elements should have a separation of at


least 15 pixels. Elements should be placed in easy-to-access
sections of the webpage.

Font - Font should be bolded and no smaller than 30pt on pages that
students interact with, and no smaller than 15pt on pages for
teachers.

Color Contrast - All display elements should have bright colors. All
stacked elements (for example, text on buttons) shall pass the
WCAG color contrast AA requirements (contrast ratios should be at
least 3:1).

4. Accessibility Symbol Systems - All images representing text should be consistent.


Functions Color Blindness - The website must be accessible by those with with
protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia (the three main forms of
colorblindness).

5. Customizability All solutions must have options to customize the display (such as
button size, font, and background color), and other settings to suit
students of different ability.

6. Security of All solutions must protect any student or teacher information that may

7. Age Appropriate The solution must be targeted for 13-21 years old. These are the
ages of the students at Southview School, and they require more
activities that are regularly available outside of classrooms, as most
currently developed.
8. Ease of Use There should be direct, consistent, and easily comprehensible
access to all parts of the website to minimize navigation time.

Latency between web pages should be no longer than 1.5 seconds.

Website flow should be intuitive and natural.
