Director of the Ventures Gifted and Talented Program September 2005 to July 2015
AOS 96, Machias Bay Area Schools
Responsibilities include adherence to state laws in the screening, identification and programming of those
students who, based on a combination of subjective and objective measures, are performing significantly above
their same age peers to the extent that they may benefit from services. In collaboration with AOS 96 principals
and teachers, programming for individual students, as well as the entire school population, is enhanced through
strategies and processes that target students academic and artistic readiness, interests, and learning styles.

Worked half time to develop the state mandated gifted and talented program model for the Machias School
System. Duties included development of a steering committee, research, presentation of alternative models
pertaining to program components, and the compilation of components upon ratification. The year ended with
state approval for the Ventures Gifted and Talented Program.
Worked halftime as Title 1 teacher for a low performing 5th grade classroom. Collaborated with the classroom
teacher to obtain data surrounding student need, implement strategies targeting areas of need, and measure
growth based on individual strategies
Director Machias Community Summer Camp Summer 2001, 2002, 2003
AOS #96 Machias Bay Area Schools
Directed a summer day camp of approximately 150 students. Camp consisted of both educational and
recreational programming. Duties included: hiring, training, and supervising camp counselors; scheduling to
meet budgetary guidelines; developing and assisting in the implementation of programming; ensuring the safety
of all camp participants; collecting fees; and managing the state funded lunch program.
Worked with parents of students, and students ages 3-21, to enhance school readiness, and increase proficiency
in all academic subjects, with the goal of increasing the likelihood of high school graduation. Duties also
included home/school coordination and recruitment of new families within the school district, local businesses,
and the community.
Provided academic support in reading and math to K-12 students performing below grade level with the goal
students achieving grade level performance. Worked with students in grades 5-8 to provide guidance with the
goal of raising aspirations in educational and career choices.
Collaborated with the Superintendent and Principals of School Union 102 under the Safe Schools and Healthy
Students grant to bring prevention programs and curricula to the district with the goal of creating a safer school
environment, and educating students in practices for good health.

Educational Technician III September 1996-March 2000
Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School
Collaborated with special services and classroom teachers in grades three through five to develop and
implement curriculum modifications set forth in Individual Education Plans with the goal of meeting the needs
of students with exceptionalities.
Originally hired as a customer service representative and eventually promoted to Assistant Dispatcher. Primary
responsibilities included creating and maintaining customer accounts, taking orders, answering customer
questions, solving complaints, and posting deliveries and payments to customers accounts. As Assistant
Dispatcher extended responsibilities included scheduling automatic delivery customers to ensure peak delivery
efficiency without run out, and dispatching oil, propane, and service calls based on need and area schedules.

Wellby Super Drug Store Division of Hannaford Brothers
Managed a retail chain drug store including a professional pharmacy staff, assistant manager, and fifteen to
twenty full and part time employees. Responsibilities included scheduling employees and the current workload
in a manner that resulted in optimum financial results, customer service, and in-store conditions. Professional
supervisory functions included: maintaining an efficient, dedicated, customer oriented staff including hiring,
training, reviewing, and when warranted, dismissal of employees; creating and staying within store specific
budgets, accountability for and annual analysis of financial progress; payroll, daily monitoring of cash flow, and
in store merchandising.
