Reflection: (What have you learned about your students? How will this inform future instruction?)
Last week, Lisa and I taught our hook lesson on plants. We split the students into two groups to teach the lesson. The students really enjoyed the
lesson and were engaged in the activities we did. Instead of doing the worksheet at the end, we had students draw in their plant journals and had them
tell us what kind of plant they drew. We also asked the students questions after we taught the lesson to reflect and make sure they had a good
understanding of the lesson. Overall the lesson went well! The only thing we would change would be splitting the student up into 3 groups instead of
2 to help them focus a little more. This experience taught us that the students have a good, basic understanding of plants, their characteristics, and
what they need to grow. We learned this by doing our experience with the plants in the classroom and asking the students questions at the beginning
to connect with their prior knowledge. This information will inform future instruction because we wont have to cover the basics as much in our
future lessons and do a quick review instead.
