Mid Year Conference
MYC 2010 was a success! We
had 5 students and 3 non-
students from Newcastle at-
tend. It was a good group and
each student was be greatly
challenged by the speaker,
John North, and all the other
seminars and trainings that
transpired throughout the
week. This was evident by our
Newcastle campus time on the
last full day. The students and
missionaries each shared what
God was teaching them and
how God was challenging
them. One student, Peter,
emotionally told us of the
great burden he felt to talk
about his relationship with
God with his best friend. An-
other student named Steph
said she felt challenged to get
involved with Student Life
The Outback and the start of Semester 2
In my last letter I told you that
me, Nick, Kara, and Stacey
were venturing on a 2 week
road trip into the heart of Aus-
tralia. After 8000 kilometers of
Aussie road, several hikes
through breath-taking scenery,
an all too friendly emu, hun-
dreds of kangaroo road-kill,
and a run-in with a real live
Australian Elvis, we made it
back to Newcastle. I realize
none of those stories make
much sense, but I only have so
back on campus and to share
her faith with other students. I
enjoyed hearing their stories
and seeing God working on
their hearts.
John North works for Ambas-
sadors for Christ International
in Australia He is the author
of a daily devotional entitled
Time with God and recently
authored a small group course
called GrowthWorks. He chal-
lenged us that our first prior-
ity is our relationship with
God but our purpose, or rea-
son for existing, in life is to
help others realize God’s re-
demption.
Some of the other activities at
MYC included: seminars,
trainings, campus and region-
much room here. We encoun-
tered emus, kangaroos, walla-
bies, dingoes, goats, sheep,
camels, and a lot of red dirt.
Eventually, I hope to post lots
of pictures and a video of our
adventure on my blog, so look
for that in the coming future.
Semester 2
We begin the last half of the
year on July 26 as we are joined
for the first 3 weeks of class by
al bonding nights, a relation-
ships night, outreach day to
the surrounding town, and a
party night. Trainings took up
a large chunk of time, and I
led 4 hours worth of training
called “Personal Disciple Mak-
ing” to a group of 8 students.
For the outreach day we part-
nered with an area church to
go door knocking with
“community improvement”
surveys.
Team Newcastle: Students and
Missionaries
a missions team of 13 students
and 5 leaders from the U.S.,
known a Summer Project.
Their task is to encourage and
assist us, and their main job
will be to blitz the campus with
evangelism and to seek out key
students who can help continue
to launch the movement here.
We are challenging our Aussie
students to participate with the
U.S. students in evangelism.
