MINI HEALTH FAIR PROJECT 2

Theme

While discussing with our group the best option for our health fair project we both had

come to agreeance that nutrition would be the best option for us to discuss. The theme nutrition

had really stood out to us. We believe that its important for children to know about nutrition, and

the good of it. Nutrition is the process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and

growth. Its important for children to start making healthy eating habits at an early age so it will

help them stay healthy throughout their life. Today in society many children dont understand the

importance of nutrition, and how it can benefit our bodies. Having good nutrition can affect your

lifelong health. We believe that this health fair well help us to reach out to students the

importance of eating right, and the risks of what poor nutrition can do to our bodies.

3 Communication Methods

One of the communication methods that we chose to use was making a newsletter. We

feel like this would be a good method to use because many people rely on the newspaper and

social media. For the newspaper, we would make the newsletter small and easy to understand.

We would also add a picture of us with our contact information for people to ask us any

questions that they may have. Another thing that we would include is the address where the event

will be located. We would put all of the same information on social media. Most people seem to

use social media, so we feel like this would be a great way to get the word out.

Flyers would be another way we would choose to communicate with the public. We

would place a flyer in everyones mailbox that lives in the community. Our flyer would look fun

and exciting. We would also choose a color that stands out from all of the other mail in their
MINI HEALTH FAIR PROJECT 3

mailbox. Our flyer would have a who, what, where, when, why? section to tell the people

everything that they need to know.

Last but not least, a poster would be another form of communication we would use. Our

posters would be bright and colorful. We would design the posters to grab peoples attention so

that they will want to read them. Included would be a section with who, what, where, when, and

why? so that all of the information is advertised about the event. The posters would be hung in

schools, work places, and around the town. Our main goal of the posters would be to grab

everyones attention and to make them excited about coming to join us.

3 Area Stations

The three area stations that would be beneficial for the theme nutrition for our health fair

are nutritional analysis, healthy cooking demonstration, and having students complete different

health risk assessments. A nutritional analysis can be beneficial for students in many ways. A

nutritional analysis is the process of determining the nutritional content of foods and food

products. Many children dont have the guidance from their parents to explain why some foods

can be harmful to the body. Therefore, we had agreed as a group that this would be beneficial for

children to learn about. Today in society a lot of parents dont care about the eating habits

children have, and the harm of it. On the table, we will have a display of several types of food

that are healthy for you and food that is harmful to your body. Next to each of the items we will

have a food label that explains the nutritional content of the food. Another area station that we

thought would be nice for the students is health risk assessments. This is a widely-used screening

tool used in the field of health promotion. This will help to students to have more of an

understanding of what could happen if you make poor eating choices. The sheets will have facts
MINI HEALTH FAIR PROJECT 4

that cover a wide range of health and safety. We believe that this will help students to have a

better understanding of the things they consume. The last area station that we thought would be

educational and fun for students is a healthy cooking area. We will have lots of free food and

samples of many things that are good for you to try.

Raffle/ Door Prizes

Our raffle prize would consist of a basket filled with different types of fruit and a one-

month membership to a work-out facility. We chose to do this as a prize because we want to

show people all different kinds of fruit that they can try and perhaps choose to have it as a

healthy snack. The gym membership would also be a great way for them to get their exercise for

one month for free. Sometimes doing something for a whole month helps create a healthy habit

for people. Our hopes is that the winner would continue to go to the gym after the one-month

membership expires. Going to exercise and eating more fruit might make them change the way

they eat and live.

When each person comes to the door, we would hand them a raffle ticket if they wish to

donate one canned fruit or vegetable item to the homeless. We thought this would be a good way

to show them that homeless need to eat healthy as well. At the end of the event, we would then

reach into a bowl and pull out a raffle ticket at random. Whoevers raffle ticket we would happen

to pull out, that person would be the lucky winner of the basket and one-month membership to

the gym.
