2-How did the teacher begin and end the lesson?

He stood outside the class, welcomed every single student by his name and at the same time took
the attendance. He ended by reviewing over the power point.

3-What did the teacher use for teaching materials or instructional aids/equipment?

He used white board, laptops, overhead projectors, and maps.

discovery learning, discussions, games or simulations, demonstrations, cooperative learning,
integration of technology, socrative questioning, etc)

He used lecture method by using technology.

5-How did the teacher assess learning? (informal, formal, formative, summative, oral, open-
ended, quiz, feedback etc) See Chapter 8 for more information on assessment methods

He assessed his students learning through the organizer that is posted on the word document
where the students have to organize each topic with its impact in the 1980s and then drop it in
the drop box for grading.
6- What can you say about the teachers philosophy/beliefs and style?
(Traditional/progressive, behaviorist, student-centered vs. teacher centered, authoritative etc)

I can say that his style of teaching is a progressive one.

7-How does the teacher manage classroom? Can you identify classroom management
techniques used?

His management for his class is very good and well organized. His time management is
remarkable and his method of distributing time is well planned. All the students kept busy from
the begging of the class till the end.

8-Observe in the classroom setting and determine types of behavior students play when off-
task. What do they do when they are not paying attention? How does the teacher re-direct
them or get them back on task?

While observing the students, Ive noticed that all of them were on task but one student
submitted his work earlier in five minutes and tried to distract another student who didnt finish
yet. Here the teacher told him that he can do whatever he wants on the computer but not to
distract others.

9-How does the teacher communicate with students (verbal, vocal, meta-verbal or non-verbal
communication such as facial, body language, use of space, motion and time?)

The teacher communicated with the students verbally.

10-Who were the students in the class? What did you notice about them? (Background,
diversity, attitude, motivation, interaction, participation, etc)

There is a clear diversity in this class. They are 22 students in the class that are divided into 6
Hispanic, 2 Asians, 1 Foreign exchanged student, 1 immigrant, and the rest are residents.

11-What did you see that is effective in engaging students? What do you see that is
ineffective in keeping students engaged?

I believe that using technology in the class and well time management lead the students to be
engaged all the time .But when they are done with their work and there is nothing planned to ask
them to do, this may lead to distraction in the class.
12-What are the two instructional strategies you observed and would like to apply in your
classroom?

The two instructional strategies that Ive observed and would like to apply in my classroom are:

Integrating technology in the class activities.

Begging the class with introducing the objectives and ending the class with summing up
what weve did in the class.

13-What are two important classroom management strategies that you observed and would
like to apply in your classroom?

The two important classroom management strategies that Ive observed and would like to apply
them in my classroom are:

Welcoming the students outside the class with their own names.
Well managing for time and knowing how to distribute it on the class activities.
